Hello all I need some help ok I brought a Hino bus that has been converted in to a motorhome, wow you can fry eggs with the heat coming thru the roof and I can only imagine how winter will be so cold does anyone have any ideas how I can insulate the roof, not on the road just yet due too nahhhhhhhh we wont go there anyways I love this place the nomads and I read the forum always and just love the tips from from you all

Maybe a false roof with batts in between would work Denise.

You can also have it painted with special Insulating Paint.

If the roof has the plastic type roof lining sections then it maybe possibile to have some insulation bats fitted between to metal top & the lining sheets.

I would for starters paint the roof white there is 60 % from your heat solved,Have a look at this Link
I had a look at that "Liquid Roof" Sheba and looks good to me. If my plans were to be not in the 'Playground' as much I would look into putting it on the roof at home.
Denise, maybe do the liquid roof and Batts, problem solved.

I have the insulating paint from Australian Paints Qld and will paint the roof of my caravan this week,,,,, probably,.....but dont suppose that helps you much,,but i am sure from talking to other vanners that this stuff does work... cost me $173.00
.While i am here i can tell you that in my campervan i removed the interior roof covering/lining and covered the upper side with insulation foil (the same as they use on the walls of houses) the blue on one side and silver on the other side stuff and that has made an amazing reduction to the temp and comfort inside the campervan due to the air clearance between he roof and the silver foil ,,, hope this helps you a bit

Hi Denise,
My friend has just painted the roof of his permanently sited bus with Insuladd paint,this is the second time in six years he has done that. This time is only because he has a gumtree which causes rubbish and dirt to build up on the roof so he pressure washed the roof and has repainted it again a lot earlier than he would have if it was a mobile vehicle.
He swears by the paint and reckons it really does work, something about tiny glass beads in the paint to insulate.

There are other similar products on the market but this is the only one I have direct knowledge of that does work.

You also mentioned solar, after painting If you put panels on the roof with the correct clearance from the roof then this would also assist. Plus you have the added bonus of a battery power supplement.

Some-one on another Forum is going to use a product called Liquid Roof, so I'm assuming they're buying it in Australia.
