I too would also like to know where this one is please
The tarped roof held down with bricks may be due to recent storm action?? However, despite an over-full bin (was it the day before garbage day?), it looks like quite a lot I have stayed in as I stay in very small towns in the inland/outback. I fondly remember the "amenities block" at Yowah for instance. (see photos below) Rough, very weathered concrete floors and no door/curtain on shower recess.
It would also need to be balanced against the tariff as well - $10/night ... not an issue - over $15/night ... forget it mate

Gday...
I camp away from van parks at least 85% of the time as well ....... and most of those 'camps' have "amenity blocks" (loosely called toilets) probably worse than those in the photos in the original post
They don't bother me either .... if no fee for usage, I don't mind what condition they are, I am just grateful they are there

I fail to see the point in submitting such an uninformative post.

How about putting it in the recommendations and not recommending it and naming it! That makes sense to me. Also pm so I can take a load to the tip without paying the rate the tips ask for, generally cps charge less!

Grand pines tourist park sydney, Castaway asked for advice in earlier post about this park and has started a new post to comment on his stay , instead of posting on the previous post , I google this park when he ask about it from that I would not have gone there google is a good tool I don't understand why more people don't use it

Gday...
Thanks Brickies .... I had not opened the thread on the Grand Pines Park .... no interest for me as I would never go to Sydney - Wanderest at Richmond would be the closest I would even think about.
Having now read that thread it certainly does appear castaways did decide to stay there and were very disappointed. I guess they did not "read between the lines" of the responses to their question re Grand Pines.
Given their "expectations" the park would certainly have shocked.

I think, many people are too lazy to do their own research, just want it handed to them on a platter.

...apart from a very typical permanent van corner, a bin possibly before refuse pick up,a possibly storm damaged amenities block roof and what could be any one of dozens of shower cubicles I have used.. and pull chain dunnys that probably work a treat......what am I looking at?....surely the tariff charged should be incorporated in any complaint thread.......everything is relative....what about all the room to move you would have enjoyed staying in a park like that....what was Managements' response when you lodged your compaint?....that would be more interesting and to the point with this thread..might answer all above questions....IMO....I wake up happy to be alive, and it takes a whole lot more than that to get me down during the day...Hoo Roo.

I think we should be very wary about naming and shaming any caravan parks on a forum as this can be used as an easy way to express a grudge against one that did the 'wrong thing' by the poster. We don't want Cindy our moderator, or this great forum in trouble for libel. (sorry castaways, I didn't mean you & I believe it's great that you didn't mention the name but, as you did say 'give it a miss' maybe a clue to where it is was could help).
A comment or clue to the general area where caravan park is would be ok & if people want more information, maybe they can then private message the poster.
Cheers
Jon

I fail to see why this thread was some sort of stupid guessing game when simply mentioning the park by the original poster would have been much more informative. I agree with GDN above that a little more detail may have helped.
I didn't link it to an earlier topic as CPs in Sydney are of no interest to me. I live only a couple of hours away and I usually go there by train just for the day.
The comments about using google etc may be sometimes valid but there is often no substitute for first hand information and this forum can be a very useful research tool itself.

I can't see why it is OK to recommend a good caravan park but not to name a bad one. I see where you are coming from Hylda & Jon but why do we always have to stick to giving the besdt side of things? I think it would be wiser just to say it wasn't a good choice without posting photos. Sorry you had such a bad experience castaways. CPs in Sydney are hard to find. We will always stay at Wanderest in Richmond and travel in.

ONLY $45 - $50 a night????? I baulk at paying more than $32 a night, I would want hot & cold running women for $50 a night.
No wonder I much prefer freedom camping.

We're talking in the middle of Australia's largest city here, you wouldn't really expect the rates to be the same as in a little country town would you? Good luck to those of you who are looking for a motel room in the middle of Sydney for that price! I think its amazing that the park is still open, it must be a gold mine waiting to happen for a developer.

In defense of castaways, I think they probably thought we all were aware what park, as mentioned above they started a thread earlier about CV Parks in that area. Most reading their comment above didn't know including me but given time we would have found out. BG asked the question so given time castaways would have answered, instead they probably have been frightened off.

If only people would stick to the one thread about one particular topic instead of starting a new one when they have an update. It happens often and just makes it all very confusing.

I don`t mind naming & shaming............stayed overnight at Springsure SG last trip with friends, we chose a powered site at $25pn and they non powered at $17.50pn for 2AD`s, no kids & no pets.
Once it had cooled down after dinner we headed for the showers for a scrum & tub and while there was plenty of hot water on tap I needed to fight off the ****roaches before setting foot in the shower recess........what a disgrace, quite sure the local councillors wouldn`t put up with those facilities and all for $25 bucks........needless to say I made sure the local council CEO was made aware of the problem........judging from the lack of response they couldn`t care less about tourists and I simply scrubbed the place from our return visit list.
