I had a similar problem a while back only it was happening all the time. I finally got rid of it by deleting the browser (Internet Explorer) and am now using Firefox with no problems. I am told that IE is more likely to get infected. A bit drastic but it worked! I also use Sandboxie a quarantine programme which contains your browsing within a separate area which you can delete when you have finished. Have not had a problem since installing this and its free! Just pop Sandboxie into Google and go from there.

Gerty,
There is malware that can have that effect. A free anti malware program should help. I don't recommend any because I don't use windows but others might have recommendations. Make sure your anti virus is working as well.

I have clickable links turning up in the text of various posts, if I mouse over it, it says "easyinline" "search for...." and "allinsearch.com." and if I click on it, theres articles related to the subject.
The funny thing was I clicked on "Reject Shop" which was highlighted and clickable and found a DHA web-site!
Is this some new form of forum advertising?

Have not noticed anything either Gerty. Think it sounds like the Gremlins have invaded your puter.

Hi GD,
I go through Google or Google Chrome and don't have any of those links you have mentioned. I have however been having other problems with my poota but not Forum related, I think it was Mr Google or my system. I have been doing some poota housework this morning and seems fine now though.

We had afew things go wrong when we installed Google Chrome, so deleted that a couple of months ago.
Just trying to figure out how to save all these favourites to the Firefox browser. Mr D is very nerdy (read: clever) about puta problems, I'll have to give up and ask for his help!

I wouldn't think it's a bug or virus. I reckon you've somehow downloaded an add-on\toolbar and that's taken over your search engine. Often it can happen when downloading other programs, as there are slightly hidden extras that aren't always clearly apparent when downloading programs.

I haven't had any issues either. I IE and Google..in fact google is my good friend. I didn't like google Chrome, so deleted it.
I know everyone says Firefox is better, but I'm one of those people who's not fond of change, ie if it works, leave it be.

I would have to agree with you Beth, if it ain't broke don't fix it.
Many Grey Nomads give themselves problems on their puters by downloading stuff that some one else tells them, would be much better, than what they are already using.
Most of the grief I have brought down on my head has been from fixing something that ain't broke.
It doesn't matter which browser you use they all have their own unique problems and I have tried almost all that are available and I always end up coming back to IE, one reason is that I teach Seniors how to use their computer and like to stay with the program that came with the operating system on their machine
I have never had many problems from viruses as I always ensure that all security is up to date and all programs are updated as well and stay away from the sleazy sitesI also take care as to what programs I download from the internet and always try to read what is being offered before hitting the install button when installing downloaded programs.
It is becoming increasingly difficult when on a program download site to not hit the wrong button and receive other than what you want, as the presentations on the sites are becoming very sneaky in the layout of the page, also the number of toolbars and additional programs that are included with the program, that you actually wanted in the first place and if you are not diligent in reading what is offered during install, you end up with lots of unwanted material
Cheers
David

Mr D downloaded some "torrent' site last week, and then deleted it again a few days later but I reckon that was where this gremlin came from, as it had its own toolbar it wanted to put up, seemed to be everywhere.
Thanks everybody for your advice, got Zone Alarm security, will check if it nabs malware too.

This malware program has a good reputation, has a free and paid version, if Zone Alarm does not find the problem, give this one a go. I would also endorse Microsoft Security Essentials as an excellent anti virus and is not a resource hog.

Me too Beth. I also tried Firefox, but got rid of it too. Those others didn't do things I was used to, and liked.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Quite often when installing a new program onto a computer it has an added toolbar program that will automatically add onto your browser unless you tell it otherwise. The toolbar will be installed unless you read each page of the instalation & spot and tick the box to say you don't want it.
My suggestion is read everything carefully throughout the whole process of any new program being installed on your computer.
Also, always be wary of torrent downloads or any other share programs where you get stuff from other people, especially if you are running Windows.
