Make sure its waterproof. I don't own one but have seen them and they seem great, for large fingers and failing eyesight and they do what all phones should only be capable of doing, which is to receive and make phone calls Cheers David

Hi Jimbo I think the seniors phone is the one with the extra large numbers and screen view, it makes it easier to see and the buttons are large enough to hopefully not make mistakes
My mum is 80 in a week or so and wants an I phone 5. Not because she can use it but because they look cool....
I have a six year old Grandaughter that wants an I phone 5 not because she can use it but because it looks cool...
hmmm such is life...

It won't be waterproof - none are because you cannot talk underwater. Splash resistant maybe but don't count on it. The seniors phone is OK with big buttons and probably all the features you really need. Try and get a case for it to go in so it doesn't easily slip out of your pocket. They are however pretty primitive and a bit insulting in the way they describe them IMHO. We may be old but we ain't past it! Just remember that most if not all people do not dial or key in numbers - they use the phones "phonebook", so really it is more important to have the phonebook easily accessed rather than big numbers.....how many 10 digit mobile numbers can YOU remember? If I were older than what I am (69) and wanted a new phone, I'd first off check with a younger grandchild in the 14-22 age bracket and ask them about a phone that takes voice commands - my son has one - you train it to your voice and the say "ring Bill" or ring home etc and just does that. you can train it so it understands how you talk and not brit or yank talk. Saves all the rubbish about going through menus etc...just press a button, say "ring home" and it will ring home. They are not expensive. No problems with thick fingers or bad eyesight then. Also try and buy an unlocked phone so you can choose your phone company - Telstra is about the dearest and companies like Amaysim are much much cheaper (like 1/3 the cost). Good Luck.

My Mum who is 87 dials all numbers out of her head. This Telstra phone is still too hard to understand. In my opinion all the oldies need is a phone that dials numbers....nothing else.
The old rotary phone they grew up with had no memory, speed dial or SMS !!!

I was sent a remedy for this problem, how to dry it out and use the phone again instead of throwing it away. In fact my son in law dropped his phone into water and I've sent him the procedure but haven't heard back from him yet. I have it on a Word Document. If you want to try it, PM me and give me your e-mail address and I'll send it to you. I don't guarantee it, but it's worth a try...

Silly me! I really meant as far as reception goes out at places like between Childers and melbourne .or Greens Lake and port fairy..I had heard it drops out quite a bit.......My other phone stills works but can't take any pictures ogf Billeeeee's fat Gut

There is no guarantees, but this is the method I was told by a phone shop.
DO NOT SWITCH IT ON!
Remove battery, place phone in small air tight container with RICE, leave for a week or so and then give it a try.
My phone (only 26 days old) was washed, rinsed and spun dry. After this method it actually worked for a short time then died.

Hi Jimbo, I have a very basic Telstra phone that works very well and was made for people like me who only want to text and make/receive phone calls. It does have internet etc. but I don't worry about these. I have been as far north as Blackall and had good coverage all the way. Hope this helps.

Ken I have been told by my kids your method does work depending on time it has had contact with water , But in saying that I went for a swim for an hour WITH MY PHONE the rice didn't work another simple nokia at $95
Waterproof covers are available for iphones. My nephew has oen, as he goes bushwalking alot.

You're welcome. I have a s-i-l who keeps wrecking them but no cover will save them from being run over by a truck.

I just Googled them - $69 and good for 2 metres under the water....plus they make it more impact resistant. I have a daughter that keeps ruining mobiles so she'll get a cover for her birthday. Never knew they existed.
