Parks Victoria Charges for a Wilson Prom. powered site for two.

Gday...
Unfortunately, I have bumped into this problem in other National and State Parks in Victoria. I have discussed it with Rangers when I get the chance - the explanation is that it usually works out cheaper for "families" having one fixed fee for a 'site'. I explain that as one who travels and camps alone it is a bit discriminatory. It falls on deaf ears, but I guess they, like most of us, are only the messengers and not the 'policy makers'.
I rarely stay in the parks that have those sort of pricing structures.

Grey Nomads are being slung $53.30 for a one night powered sight at the Prom. This is the same charge weather you have one person or eight on the site,
surely this is an over the top charge ?

Welcome from me too wkilby, enjoy here and out in the playground.
That has been the case there for many years and it has only been recently that you don't have to pay to go through the front gate.

Welcome wkilby. I would highly recommend Shallow Inlet. I posted this in November after staying there.
It's not actually in the National Park, and it's a nice drive out to the Prom from there.

I was there last year, turned around and drove out...Cost was outrageous and the Park had 1 Van in it. Just before you enter the Park, turn left and follow the road to the sea. There is a little Caravan Park there. At the time I was there, it was raining and did so for a few days. The CP was virtually empty so they gave me a powered site for $20.00. Yanakie Caravan Park...

So are younger families being charged less? Is a loved up young couple on a romantic weekend away being charged less? Are international visitors being charged less? It's not as if they are picking on gn's. It's their price. It is what it is and it's not just a grey nomad issue.

we were there a couple of years ago, Mrs W paid for 3 nights while I stayed with the van, I did not find out how much it cost until a few weeks later or I would have turned around and gone somewhere else, its nearly as bad as kakadu in NT, entry is $25 pp camp site extra, but you only get charged that if you are a visitor, locals (NT residents) pay nothing to get in, I have made my last visit there until they once again drop the entry fee, i did write to the minister in Canberra and the reply was it will be looked at during their next meeting, I saw sometime ago a newspaper article that numbers for entry to Kaka were going down.

There is also a small CP just before you enter the Inlet campground, but I didn't take note the name of it. It was fairly close to the water too, from memory.
