I live in the Shire of Yarra Ranges, The Dandenongs and Yarra Valley, Both top tourist area's,
I pay rates,
Out of those rates, they pay for travellers from all over the world to come here and use our facilitys, Public Toilets, Dump Points, information Booths and staff to run and clean them.
I dont mind paying extra on my rates for these services, It brings income into the area, which I dont receive any money from,
But the extra benefits from the tourists, services, Etc, Is beneficial to all in my area,
So, when I go any where else in our great country, I expect the same services from other councils, and not to be ripped off because I dont come from their area,
Fairs fair,
You want people to visit your towns, and give your economy a boost, then you have to put in the services to attract these visitors instead of fleecing them,
Echuca and its $15-00 dump charge is an example,
Cheers,
Brian,

I agree totally,
With the expected numbers considering full time travel, it would be foolish of councils to do The Echuca thing.
Another gripe,Why do Councils allow CP's to dictate for the rest of the ratepayers and businesses.
I am sure if people bypass an area because of the Echuca syndrome other businesses are deprived of income.
It is a democracy and majority rule so maybe councils should take a good long look at themselves before kowtowing to minorities.

I agree too, wholeheartedly. This area is benefiting by nomads drawn to Wanderest at Richmond. Lots of caravans, motorhomes in the area.

when the fees become excessive people will dispose of their dump point material by other means an it will cost more to clean up after the fact. just take tip fees as an example tip fees have become expensive so people dump their rubbish on the side of the road

Hello all With all the discussions about Echuca not RV friendly on various forums I have been informed that Rich River Golf Club in Moama has installed a dump point in their grounds and is free of charge, so any body in the Echuca area it is not far now to empty out Good thinking on their behalf as it is a good club and meals are very reasonable. Room for big rigs Ken

Thats a great move Ken. A great place for a meal while the travellers are there. They have their head screwed on right.

Great of the Rich River Golf Club to do that - they don't have campers there - but what a forward thinking thing to do! Of course, they expect that you will come into the club, have a meal or a drink, or play the pokies - but they are giving something back to the community - congratulations to them. The council should take a leaf out of their book.

It sure is a fantastic marketing ploy, on behalf of the Rich River Golf Club . Maybe the Echuca council needs to employ the merketing people from Rich River Golf Club who appear to have what a better insite into the needs of the travelling public than the marketing people working in Echuca Council....It is a win win for Rich River and a big big los for Echuca with the Syndrome !!!!

I like the term. When towns don't cater for nomads and fleecing happens it is now called the 'Echuca syndrome'

If Moama Golf Club has put in a dump point, you ought to suggest they also do what the Richmond Club (NSW) did - devote 1/3 of their car park to caravans and motorhomes to go with the dump point. Great news. Maybe more clubs will catch on.

Think to use Wanderest at Richmond NSW you join the Club, just across the road...not many dollars, good spot then to have your reduced cost meal, and accommodation parked up at Wanderest, Richmond NSW

Well done, Rich River Golf Club,
This Club used to put on subsidised Coach's from Melbourne, so groups could go and play the Pokies for the week end up there,
It was a very cheap weekend, Lovely spot, All meals and Accom supplied, A lot of the people that went, were the Grey Population, US,
This is an excellent way for them to get us back again,
Plus the whole town benefits as well,
From memory, It cost $90-00 for the weekend all inclusive, Plus Booze and the Pokies,
Shame the Council cant see this, That it actually increases income for every one in the town, Not just C/P's, Which I dont use any way,
