Regarding the rear view camera advertised by Aldi, I just had a look at the specifications of the camera set up being a Maginon RC-1 Reversing Camera.. It states it's a wireless set up, so is it reasonable to assume if fitting on the back of your caravan that the camera transmits wirelessly to the in vehicle rear view mirror set up which is powered by cigarette lighter with USB connection in top HOWEVER I also see a wire in the photo running discreetly from the camera which is mounted on a vehicle and not an RV....I believe the camera still needs to be connected to vehicle reversing light power connection so that the camera is activated when car is put in reverse....my point is, I already have full rear camera set up on my vehicle to my Navman MY75 which activates this way, and unless a member can advise me to the contrary, one must consider that the word WIRELESS connection is a misnomer for fitting to the rear of your Caravan...the Aldi advert states its an easy wireless connection set up....well if I'm correct in my assumptions it is not only NOT wireless but will require wire installation/connection from caravan camera to vehicle reversing light connection.......the Aldi advert only elaborates on the easy cigarette lighter connection to power the rear view mirror set up.....$99 sounds great but may not be as easy as it appears/sounds to actually install on rear of RV....or have I got the bull by the tail?....which happens in my senior moments..I hope on this occasion I am incorrect.....Hoo Roo

Thanks for letting me know, I had the flyer but hadn't got around to looking at it. Lots of stuff in it.

Thats fine, got the same flyer. Only problem is, being a smaller country store, they do not stock all the specials. They also don't do rainchecks. Luckily I have a sister who I can get to do the dirty work at a larger metropolitian store.
Didn't see the reversing camera, have to have another look. As a boy, I just love toys!

The camera needs 12v power. I have mine setup to show what is coming up behind me so it can on all the time. Taken the 12v from the rear light and added an extra switch so I can turn it off when not required. Not sure how it will work on the road, camera appears to be wide angle and may not "see" the distance well.

Thanks for that Graham,so the camera still needs 12V power even if one does not intend to have it only operate when vehicle placed in reverse. So if you have it on full time unless you activate your switch to turn off, then where on your Caravan do you have camera mounted. High or mid riff?....did you run the power wire from camera internally?... how have you connected to your rear Caravan light?....so the Aldi set states its a 'wireless' set up..so long as you have wires connected to power both?....?...think I will give it a miss...Hoo Roo

wireless in this case means you dont have to wire the camera to the screen
bit like wireless surround sound . the speakers req power but are not wired to main body of system
hope this makes sense

Thanks Brian,I guess one would need to drive with lights on as well during the day to power the camera if you want to see whats coming up behind whilst driving. I still have to get my head round wiring it to the rear tail lights or number plate light on my Jayco Heritage ,internally or externally?..and where to place the camera high or midriff...has any other member got the set up already?
