There sure are replacement Led globes Freebee. I have recently replaced all mine and they are brilliant white light, cool running unlike the old and the difference is like night and day after you install them which is identical push in as the original 'peanut shape' festoon as you call them....Jayco dealers sell them but I find they ask about 3 times more the price than you can currently obtain on Fleabay. I got all mine on that site. You will be so glad when you replace....They are that bright/white that I feel I should 'dress up' just to go to my Caravan Toilet/Shower room ....I paid about $8 odd per set and the Jayco dealers wanted over $20 per set...Trust this helps..Hoo Roo

I have a Jayco Freedom poptop. I am converting it for a round Oz trip.
It has a built in inverter (240ac to 12dc). I have installed a change over system to switch from this to a solar/battery setup and back again.
Question: does anyone know if there is a led globe to replace the incandescent peanut globes in the overhead lights?

G'day Freebee and welcome to the GN forum. I cant help you with your query but you shouldnt have to wait long to find the answer to your question. Perhaps also post it in the technical forum as some people have their favourite section. Enjoy safe and happy travels.

Hi Freebee & welcome to the forum.
My 1999 Jayco 12v lights have peanut like incandescent globes that have the bare wires twisted back on the glass envelope to make contact with the socket terminals.
Are these the ones that you have in yours?
I might have to have a closer look on Ebay & Jaycar for suitable LED replacements.
I got for free enough 'Luminar' switched strip LED lights that I installed in parallel with the original incandescent fittings both inside & out of the van .. They work well & only draw 80-90 milli amps each strip.
I also recently replaced my dim tail lights (been like that from day 1) with LED ones that I constructed from a length of LEDs that I picked up on Ebay @ $19 a length. A bit of work but they work very well. Arguably the best of the many mods I have made on the Jayco.

The light bulbs you have are T10 bulbs and there are many types of led bulbs you can replace these with including PCB Boards.
The reason for this is that some 12v led bulbs will burn out as they are unable to take a charging voltage of 14.4V, the charge rate for AGM batteries.
However you can get some good deals from http://dx.com/s/12v+Led+Bulbs also you you typ in the search function there are Led strips available. These I have used also and they allow one to really brighten up a fixture.

Have a look at these. http://www.brightlightautoparts.com/files/BL-24SMD.pdf
Then there is this site as well http://www.ledshoponline.com/index.htm
Scroll thru both and you can get what you want.
I have replaced all the 12v lights both inside and outside our Jaco with Led Bulbs.
I make sure that they are multi voltage so that they can withstand charging voltage. These come rated for 8v to 30v.
Viz http://www.ledshoponline.com/PCB_LED_boards.htmyou will note that these are 8 t030v PCB boards and this site is my prefered supply.

You may also get some here... http://search.dealsdirect.com.au/search?asug=&w=led+lights
I replaced my reading lights with these touch lights... http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=10946
This site is my prefered caravan Parts site. http://caravansplus.com.au/catalog/index.php
For lights just type in Led LIghts or whatever you want for the van in their search function.
I am a very satisfied customer of Caravans Plus.
Hope this all helps Dodg.
Sorry for the delay in getting back, my computer had a melt down, ok now (I hope).
Thanks for all the info, it has been a great help in looking for what I need.
Thanks again
Alan
