Looking for a travelling companion - either male or female - to travel with me in my car. It's a well set up Troopie - organised for dirt tracks, bush camping. Planning on leaving Hunter region in June heading towards the Kimberley, to kick around up there for month or more and then into the Pilbara region. Tent it along the way, sometimes bush camps, sometimes caravan parks. Prefer the dirt where caravans generally don't go. I like walking, swimming if it's warm, fishing, taking lots of photos, sitting around a camp fire, sipping on a beer or wine, learning about new places, inspired by remote places. Should tell you I'm a kind of retired female in my 60s but not prepared to disclose how many ones. Itinerary is flexible, so is time frame (kind of).
If you're game enough, fit enough and interested enough to explore outback Oz but not locked up in a caravan or motorhome then contact me.
Welcome Troopie. Unfortunately I'm not fit enough to accompany you on such a journey, wish I was. Looks like you are in for one heck of a trip.

Well i'm game and not yet tamed, fit enough, robust enough to have ago, also in 60's but doggone it I have a caravan but then again I have a secret plan that when I can hitch a ride on the spirit of Tassie to get me from tassie to the mainland I will be heading to Rocky for a month house sitting and animal sitting, maybe abit of horse riding while my good friends have a holliday. Then well its a case of which way to go for me and way2go and the new edition way2go2 but hey I can allways drop the van somewhere safe and get the secret plan into action.
If compatable then just maybe we can help each other discover the great outdoors, mind you you will be swollowing a lot of dust trying to keep up with the Patrol, which I may say has all the needs to rough it but has the added bonus of a double bed in the back. So if your game I'm game maybe we can exchange a g'day or two before the adventure and challenge of Troopie verses way2go begin. You just never know what a Troopie and a Way2go will get up to.
Maybe this could be the next great doco providing you bring a camera.

Hi Troopy, all i can say is how could one knock back an offer like way2goKev has offered , We only live once so enjoy it while you can.And if he gets too hard to handle, sack him and post another request on here , there must be a lot of people who would jump at the idea.Maybe send him a job description first though.

Maybe I misread Waytogokevs' Post. It seemed to me, that he was suggesting leaving his 'van behind, but still taking his vehicle. He talks about Troopie swallowing a lot of dust, trying to keep up with the Patrol. Doesn't sound to me like he's going to travel with her in her car.

I'm happy either way - someone sitting in the car or in the car in front or behind me. Someone to share the experience, share the scenery. Don't mind driving by myself but it's always great to have someone to share the space around a camp fire. Troopie

Way2go Troopy, you explained it well. Its about getting to know one and other, not jumping in a car together and being incompatable and then leaving the passenger on the side of the road, definatly not the way2go. I,m all for flexability and my aim is to do the Canning this year preferrably with the company of another vehicle.

I've not been out much, and I imagined that just loved my own company, sufficiently to sustain me. I've realised, though, that a litlle civilised interaction, will enhance the experience.
I've been entertaining the idea of making contact with another solo (female) to arrange regular/irregular meetings on the road. To keep in touch, while travelling independently and catch up every so often to remind ourselves of our humanity.
So, Troopie, if travelling in tandem, or independantly with regular/irregular catch-ups, is within the scope of your aspirations, we should talk.
Getting my own act together, is imminent.
Any other Solo Greys (female) out there, please talk to me if thus inspired.

Freddie If you hit the road you are never alone if that is your desire. Just stop where others are.
Sometimes you may find you want your space and you will look for a site where there is no one or very few.
Often Solos travel in a convoy to the fact they plan to stop in the same site at defined dates and you are free to join or go off on your own.
Let the Kids look after their own worries.
Pack the rig and go shopping one day and have a lapse of memory and forget to go home LOL
You could always go home the long way go right around and take your time.

In a similar vein. I am heading off north taggin along with friends to Darwin. They are heading west and I'm not sure if I can do that this year. Should I end up in Darwin (which is my aim) for a time and I want to head back south what are the chances that I would have some company along the way (for security as much as company). I know there are stacks of us out there and especially at that time of the year (winter) but not having done this before on such long stretches can I ask some advice please?

I'm with Brian. No shortage of company out there when you need it, and you always have the option of being alone if that's your mood. BTW, I've been killing time on the forums (including searching for stuff) while I'm waiting to catch the 1:30am XPT to Sydney (from Taree), and the time has flown! These forums are a great way to spend time. Oodles of interesting stuff here.

For those that were members in here some years ago, I found myself accused (anonymously) of pressuring a female (in PMs) to travel together .. It never happened!
I then identified myself to this site as the one referred to in her accusations and exposed her .. she then disappeared from the scene ..
So .. anybody considering travelling together and as virtual unknown acquaintances, you simply gotta do the time in your own comfort zone and not anothers comfort zone .. and (just a reminder) to please be careful what is said in this open public forum as to your travel plans, dates, activities and identity details ..
Having said that .. happy travels !
