Stayed there a couple of times ourselves, but really, what do you expect when people camp there permanently?
Like a lot of "free" camp sites, if people abuse the system, expect them to close.
It's not the local c/p operator you should be blaiming, plus a lot of the time it is the council or local residents that complain.
There is no such thing as a "free" camp site, some one is paying, be it the ratepayers, local businesses or council, they are entitled to some respect to the area.

Was just told Batman Bridge (free camping area ) has closed ,due to c/ park owner near there complaining to council.could some one enlighten me if this true and when it was closed .

Batman Bridge joins the East and West Tamar Highway in Tasmania.
Thank you John for that info re Batman Bridge...you are a wealth of knowledge, your postings of your travels are , just wonderful to read,Don't let those broken ribs stop you. Just a reminder of what the treatment was for the condition years ago...you were made to wear a lady's girdle until all was mended ....Now that would be a funny site to see you in one of those.
