Hello Everyone, hope you are all surviving the rain. I have wondered if I sell my caravan privately do i have to give the government gst on that? and also if I purchase a secondhand caravan do I pay gst on it? thanks.

Wouldn't you only pay gst if you buy a caravan? The buyer pays taxes for buying yours.

Private sellers don't have to pay GST when selling a motor vehicle, I'm sure the same applies if selling a caravan. If you buy from a dealer then the dealer has to pay GST.

But remember the dealer adds the gst to the price of the van before you buy it, so he really isn't out of pocket you are.But that goes for most things we buy any way. They say two things we cannot dodge in life TAXES and dying.

Private sellers don't have to pay GST when selling a motor vehicle, I'm sure the same applies if selling a caravan. If you buy from a dealer then the dealer has to pay GST.
