Another thing i forgot to mentain is the temps can become very hot in different sections. With the river and and hot springs so close to where you can camp , becomes a little oasis in reality it is a harsh environment. If the water is too hot do what we did and just shuffle downstream a little until you find the right temp. Crocs are repuutedly non existent down there.

With a lot of migration heading to the top end for the winter , just thought i would let you know a top spot up that way that is not visited by a lot of people is Douglas Hot Springs NT. Dosn't have the big crouds like Mataranka Springs . It is all natural in it's setting. There is a camp ground there, but do not expect lush green grass , but all sites are level. Pit toilets/bbq/fire wood/picnic tables /and water available but no power.Camping Fees are to be deposited into the honesty box provided or payed to the campground manager.

Sounds like a great place Herbie, with room to move in. Water is the main thing, we don't need power. Is it in Camps book? Will check it out. Thanks.
Cheers

I googled it and had a look at some of the images
looks to me like a top spot to drop anchor for a few days. Water available- is it drinkable or just for showering/washing
Herbie do you know what the fees were?

Do not know if it is in the camp book, maybe this is why it is still a beaut clean well mauntained place. When we were there we had the whole place to our self .Not even the care taker was there. If you boil the water it is fine.

We found the mosquitoes were no different than any other place we were camped around water. But then again might depened on the time you visit also.At the moment up here in Glady QLD after all the rain we have had we just have not got mozquitoes we also have midgiessss .So bad no insect sprays work.
