Had a problem with my bigpond and emails ,so rang the philapines technical service and after sone many minutes( bhours)
it was fixed for half a day, so got pXXXXd off and shut it down
Started next day and email from telstra slowing me down as I had passed my 5 gig
Got onto my site and guess what?? not had I only passed my 5 Gig but I had used a whopping 244 gig over half a day, so peed off again. after many more minutes to phillapines they sped me up again but do not know who used the 244 gig
Not to sure about offshore workers

If you are using Wifi, make sure the connection is secured. If not, anyone can log onto your account and use it to download movies, music etc. . Sounds like this may have happened. 244 GB you could download a dozen movies and the Top 100 hit parade !!

It is Physically Impossible to Download 244GB in half a day!!!
Unless you are on a Fibre Connection, and even then i'd doubt it, as you would be controlled be the upload speed from the other end.
What connection/plan do you have? Mainly what connection speed?
I'd take it up with the TIO... I'd hate to see the bill.
I recently had a customer that used 10Gb in a day, we are not sure where it went, now whom used it, he got Telstra to correct it, as it was out of character for his usage patterns.
Rip into the Ken, 244Gb in a day is total BS!!!

Ok, well if you have a Shaped connection, then it is total and utter rubbish. Take a snap shot of your usage and email it to a Telstra asking them explain it.
Keep records for the TIO.

Nothing like a overseas chat Ken. I always like to ask then where they are, time of day/night and what the weather is like. I think they go into shock as I am being nice to them.

Try this method.
Ring Telstra, select the "I want to disconnect from my plan" option. When they answer ask to talk to a supervisor,,, THEY WILL SAY THEY CAN'T PUT YOU THROUGH UNLESS THEY KNOW THE PROBLEM AND HAVE TRIED TO SORT IT OUT.
Here's the punch line,,, TELL THEM THE PROBLEM IS THEIR STAFF NOT SOLVING THE PROBLEM.
worked a treat for me a couple of times.
Good luck.
PS Get a reference number

When their voice recognition machine says "In a few words how may we help you today?" say COMPLAINT
Usually gets you speaking to an Aussie quick smart !!!

Called into a Telstra Store today as I was having problems with the charges on my Pre-Paid Cap Plan. The guy I spoke to said he would have to call Pre-Paid Customer Service for them to sort out the problem. I asked him if the call would go to a call center in the Philippines. He said yes. When the young lady answered the call I spoke to her in Tagalog (Philippine language). I lived there almost 20 years. We had a friendly chat and the end result I ended up getting the problem fixed, an extra $50.00 credit on my account and an extra $500.00 bonus credit, giving me a total of $950.00 bonus credit to be used before April 17. Bonus credit also allows me to send international text and make International calls as well as local within Australia. I'm not complaining about Telstra today, but tomorrow I'll be back to calling them bas....s !!!!!!

If you want to keep check of your usage I have found this tool is excellent. http://www.softperfect.com/products/networx/ (Copy and past into your browser)
I am currently in a long term dispute with Telstra, going through the TIO, and I can now prove they are charging me for approx 10% more than I actually use.
It's free and it's simple to use.
Cheers,
