This is just an introduction of ourselves. We have been on the road for three weeks now and are still new at being grey nomads.
We have been to Mudgee, Cobar, Broken Hill, Great Ocean Road and are now in SA. We would welcome any suggestions on where to go from Naracoorte, including where to avoid.
Please come and say hello if you come acroos us, we are probably the only two door grey Pajero doing the circuit.

Hi Jules, We are in our mid fifties and have run away from home and two daughters, one niece, one adopted son, two dogs and a cat. We have a week to fill before we have Easter in Adelaide and prefer inland.

Hi Liz and Graham welcome to the forum and the life of Grey Nomads you asked about a nice place to spend a a week is Robe we stopped ther last visit to S.A. and found it a very nice and relaxing location, and as some of the others have said there is too much to see in the great outdoors to rush it.

Thanks to all for the welcome. We are slowing down now as we had a deadline to be in Adelaide for Easter. After that our only plan to to be back in Sydney for Christmas due to birthdays. We will head off to Kingstone SE next then follow the coast road up towards Tailem Bends then Victor Harbour.
Any recommendations for free camping along that route?
We are still learning as we go and are loving the life.

Welcome Graham and Liz, travel up along the Coorong to Tailem Bend, Really is a pretty drive, not sure about free camping though. Victor Harbour is beautiful, there is a free camp just as you come off the punt that crosses the Murray at Tailem Bend. Once again not sure of the name of it, but a very nice area, I seen it before I started on my quest to become a nomad.

If you want to go further up north:
Clare - beautiful and they have great wineries to visit and stock up supplies he he Gladstone - have a goal that is now a museum...we were married there in the chapel. Laura - have the annual Folk Fair on 6-7th April...beautiful area, but I am bias as we live here. Wirrabara - the forest and walking trails are brilliant. Melrose - hike up Mt Remarkable...fantastic place. Wilmington - they have a Toy Museum that is great.
Just a few of the places I love to go.

Grams must agree in what you say about your state it is a beauty all right.We loved Wilmington,such a quaint old fashion town,they have a terrific park there we had lunch there.

I think it's more that in your previous life (the one before becoming a grey nomad) everything is a rush, the world goes by at a fast pace, everything is run on the tick of the clock.
Then when you no longer have that...have to be here by??? Have to be there on such and such a day, have to get back today, tomorrow, etc. it's hard to break the cycle as its just habit. I imagine it will take a while to slow down, and see the scenery and smell the roses, but it's a must have for a more relaxed and enjoyable life.
Les and I have so many places to see, but we plan on seeing lots of things, and taking our time doing it. I am also going to write a blog on our travels so the kids and grand kids can know where we are each day. With lots of pictures I want them to see it like we do.
I am sure we will all become used to changing our lives from Fast Pace then ~ Slow Pace now. But you know what it means if you go too fast on your trip? It means you will have to go back and see all the things you missed out on before...lol

I know people who say they are on the big lap to see all Oz,as they have 3 months off work or what ever,i just listen to them with my mouth wide open,as we have been on the road 12 years and i recon if we were on the road another 12 years we would not see it all....In my observations of going off to see Oz and you only have say 3 months , sit down and map out one area/ state and go see that ,as then you can really see that area,not just flip around the black stuff,as what makes Oz what it is, is tucked away off the black stuff.

Welcome from us, I can understand what a lot of people are saying about slowing the pace of your travels. Many years ago when we first set off on the big trip around we were rushing madly, it took us awhile but we eventually realized that we had time to smell the roses, it wasn't all going to disappear overnight, but it took us some time to catch on. cheers Capricorn
