The tag was to say it was a post started by you. I have them on mine too, only you can see it.
I can't help with the rego, but can't you go into the Rego web site and get this info?

Ok info in conversions here- http://www.sa.gov.au/upload/franchise/Transport,%20travel%20and%20motoring/Motoring/Vehicle%20Standards%20and%20Modifications/MR1324%20-%20RAWS_Vehicles_Imported_for_Conversion_to_Campervans.pdf
Info on fees here https://www.ecom.transport.sa.gov.au/et/generalFeesEnquiry.do
Just input the information about the vehicle. I'd say its a caravan vehicle, as there is nothing for motor homes.
Hope this helps

I don't know about South Aust. I'm in Tasmania. I purchased an Iveco Van in Sydney (NSW Rego). Registered it in Tassie as a Commercial Van for private use. Then I had the MH built and kept the rego the same. I found out that by changing the Rego to a Motorhome I could save several Dollars. I obtained the requirements which basically was another Roadworthy inspection which included production of Gas and Electrical Compliance Certificates. That's all that was required. I didn't go ahead with it because in June this year I intend to sell the MH and buy another Iveco to convert to a MH. The reason being my current Iveco is a MWB and I want a LWB, which gives me an extra meter in length. To summarize, the cheapest Rego in Tasmania is to register the vehicle as a MotorHome. There is additional discount if you are a Pensioner, but as I have this discount on my car, I can't get it for the MH. You really need to go to your Main Roads Dept. or whatever it's called in S.A. and discuss your options....

Without a doubt NSW would be the greatest rip off when it comes to Van and I assume MH a Van of 1600 kg costs $490.00. Bit savage for a vehicle that may spend about 30 Days a year on the road if you are traveling in circles around NSW. A builders box trailer with a 1500kg payload cost $54 and on the road daily. Mate asked RMS to explain and they said vans is classified as a motor vehicle, wheres the motor, if anything it should be classified as a trailer
