Yesterday I downloaded a site from an advert on my smart phone, it advertised a subscription service for the supply of apps, there was a terms of service which I read which stated the charges as $15 to join and $10 per week, not wanting this service I looked for a decline or accept button and could not find one so I closed the site, only to receive an SMS advising I had joined there subscription service and $15 dollars was deducted from my account.
I have SMS a stop to the 1900 number and will be chasing them for a refund but don't hold out much hope.
I have now found out that if I had blocked the premium SMS on my phone they would not have been able to scam that amount from my phone.
Be careful if you see an advert for the Mobile Active Appy Club don't go to the site as it is a scam, I have Googled it and many others have been caught by this scam.
I have also lodged a report on the Government Scam Watch site.
Cheers
David

we had ours disabled a few years ago when a friend was caught opening a photo text- had many arguments with company to get out of paying for a$36 charge on his account. He won his argument

Onya Pete....and if that does not work, hit it with a bigger hammer
If you don't want to use the hammer method contact your service provider, Telstra, Optus, Vodaphone etc, and ask to have premium services barred....This may also stop you dialling overseas with some telcos.

You need to contact the supplier of your mobile service in my case my supplier is Savvytel using the Optus network and it can be disabled on their website or by phone, it is disabled by the carrier Optus ,Telstra or Vodaphone

I may have got a refund as I emailed a request for a refund and received a reply that my refund was to be sent to my account will wait and see. Its not the amount it's just the principle of the thing, I have already spent lots of time chasing it up, but have learnt a bit in the process and probably prevented the loss of much larger amounts of money in the future.
