I personally wouldn't stay at robe. To me, robe is a very nice place for a day trip but a bit too expensive and over rated to stay there. There are free camps available 40K's north in Kingston. There is another recent post about a free camp right near the jetty in kingston. Although that one is only 1 night, 2k's south up the esplanade is a free camp where you can stay i think 4 nights.

That is exactly right Gordon, we stayed at that Free Camp south of the jetty. There is one right at the jetty, but is only 24hr I think. This other one is 4 or 5days I think, with toilets and no drinking water. Has a Corner Store with take aways across the road.

Can't remember about camping at Robe but here is an exerpt from my blog about the place when Billeee & I visited in 2011
"Had a look around Robe a very historic town there is a street there which was named in 1845, there was a lot of history stated on the various information bays but what stood out for me was that there was a cannery there which canned swans calling them Robe Geese and parrots called rabbits. Hard to believe but the notice stated that it happened."

dazren is quick off the mark tonight! Hope you stayed in Injune long enough to enjoy it Doug. We liked that town but have heard since that it has been over-run with miners.

Now the first time we stayed in Finley it was New Years Eve many moons ago and it was a noisy town. So it really depends on circumstances at the time what we think of a town doesn't it? You've made good time to be that far already!! Obviously got a cold and can't smell the roses so not stopping to do so. Haha
