Just read a press release regarding the Station Suare Free Camping in Latrobe Tasmania.The Mayor stated the council has been required by State Gov & Economic Regulator,to charge a $10 per night for comlient motorhome/ caravan for the use of this facility.The Mayor went on to say Local Goverment is a creature of the State Goverment and had no choice in this decission but to abide by the directive along with National Competion Policy.

The Tasmanian governement is broke, big time.
Not only is it broke, but IMO it is incompetent.
This has been coming for a couple of years now, a few councils have put up a good fight to not comply.
I know that in the Channel area, the rangers where told to look the other way for a 24 hour period.
However, there are hundreds of areas left here in Tasmania, where one can stop and camp for free.
Areas like Mayfield Bay, Gordon, Franklin, Port Huon all charge a nominal fee now.

Well the Tasmanian Government is a coalition with the Greens what do you expect. The Greens have crippled Tasmania. Also it was the Greens actions that caused half the place to burn down.
