Wyaralong is a new dam and it is a pleasant place to stop, We havn't stayed there, only been there for a picnic, the camping area is very open and at the moment there is not much shade, it will be much nicer as the trees get established.
Cheers

You could try Flanagan Reserve, on the river near Mount Barney. We spent a few days there. It would be less crowded now that the weather is cooling off. You can have a fire there.

Darlington Park at Kerry - near Beaudesert is a great spot - right on a creek, lots of room, toilets - the caretaker lives on site, and has some basic supplies in a little shop, also sells barrow load of firewood for $10 - normally $6 per person per night - goes up a bit in school hols and long weekends. Good access roads in and out.

The camp spot at Wyaralong is very open and hot. Not a very great place really. There is a nice spot at Lillybrook as part of this dam system but you cannot see the dam from there. Dont think a lot of thought went into the construction of this camping ground. Very disappointing. This is from a local in the area
Has anyone been to Wyaralong Dam?
Its within Mt Joyce Recreation Park Queensland. Northwest of Beaudesert
Bugga
Just found a site, and it is for camping only, no caravans but what a lovely spot

Cunungra is not far from the Gold Coast and has a number of options for camping http://www.canungrashowsociety.org/accommodation.html

I haven't stayed here myself, but a few of my family have. It's 4kms of dirt road with a couple of creek crossings, but I went there in my i30.
It's a lovely place as you can see from the photos, and the camp kitchen is great!
