I can understand anyones concern re where their medication is being made ,due to China and other places where cheap labour is around, The hygine and regulations on quality control is just not there. Wondering if Oz Health Deptments are going to be doing any quality control checks on these o/s companies. Look what happened with the breast implants that were being produced in France ..They only get exposed when in most cases some body who has been effected in some way bring it to the attention of Health Deptartment.
It was not long back where Drs were asking anyone on Lipator to go to their Dr to monitor their syrum levals.

Gday...
Interesting ... I used to take Lipitor, but for the past three years have been using the generic one - Atorvastatin by Sandoz.
I just checked and it is made in Slovenia - of all places.
It still works and my cholestorol is held in check - I have tests for it (and a range of other nasties) every six months.
I think we would all be surprised just where most of the things we consume are manufactured.
Cheers - John

Theres at least one company called Ranbaxy making atorvastatin in India.
I've just been trying to find where "Atorvastatin Pfizer" is made, you'd think it should be on the packet. ... ?

My Lipitor has now changed to Lorstat which is made in QLD. I have that many tablets that change names, I don't remember what some of them are for anymore.

Don't take any Statin drugs they will probably do more harm than good, do some research and you will find there are a number of natural ways to reduce your Cholesterol, also do research into the damage that Statin drugs can do to your body, then you won't be enriching the giant drug companies. Cheers David

I've just posted [ at great expense ] a package of Karicare baby formula to my Chinese daughter-inlaw. She will not use Chinese baby formula regardless of the expense of getting the Australian product.
Some of this though is because Chinese mothers will spend any amount of money on their children, as long as it's the best. They are much more concious of how they treat their kids but have higher expectations when their kids start school.
Failure to do well is not an option in my daughter in laws family.

Have been on lipitor for many years - have no problems, had no problems, don't expect to have any problems. I sometimes get the "generic" brands that are available now, depending on the chemist, and what brand he has. I have a hereditary issue with high cholesterol, and intend to take it for as long as I can.
China as an emerging industrial force, and their standards will reflect this as time goes on, I feel.

There was a huge problem with Milk for babys' in China some time ago. It did make headlines around the world, and babies were dying from being poisoned by it. Not sure of the situation now.

I take a generic brand of Lipex and have for years. No problems. And I'm not really concerned about where it's made.

Mine is Zimstat (Simvastatin) from alphapharm. Can't find anything on the packet to say where it is made. It does say on the packet I can go to their website to get the information leaflet. I just might do that.
Edit. Have read up all the info online. It is made in Australia. Everything from Alphapharm seems to be made in Aus.

Been there ... done that. Unfortunately, my cholesterol seems to only respond to medication. Whenever I have tried 'alternative' solutions to reduce cholesterol it has risen above the levels of my doing nothing .... doctor's, dietitians, naturapaths, quacks all just shake their collective heads and have no solution.
Whether I like it or not, I am stuck with 'medication' of some kind

So sad to think with medication ,why we have to import it to keep our own race alive....Was talking to daughter inlaw ( dr ) on phn regarding this ,she said it is due to the pharmaceutical companies profit margin being higher ,from getting medication of all sorts from countries that the wage is so very low, and the over heads are regarding other legilslation and the likes are slack.

To cut your cholesterol cut your sugar intake. I cut my sugar intake and within months my cholesterol level had returned to normal 4.2 from over 9. I did not have a lot of sugar but it made a great difference. Not sure if it was just me but you will notice there is a great move to advise people of the danger of sugar. Even my doctor I was seeing at the time could not believe that it had dropped so much and at the time she had me off tablets to see where my level would go as I had m=been on coversil for over 20 years and she said it was too long. Was advised if I had not been on medication for so many years she would have not prescribed anything. I went from 40mg to 5mg now. Regards Brian

Brian,
Unfortunately most things we eat contain some form of sugar, to cut it out or remove it would be hard. But being a Diabetic I need the sugar. As for the Coversyl, I have that too for my bad heart, but I only have 10mg.

Some of us have no choice but to take the medication, since I am a pensioner I just pay the $5 or so I asked is it cheaper to take the generic brand and I was told its the same price so I will stick with the brand I know
