Yep another concentrated effort to put the ''Independents'' out of the fuel supply business. So get it whilst you can ?? as once they win the battle [ and they will ? ] Then you will see hefty price increases on the fuel [ and groceries ] As there will be no Competition to keep pricing down, They will still probaly give you the 4 cents off, But that will well and truly be covered by increased prices,
I don't blame anyone for saving a few $$$ today ??? But be aware what they give you today, they will be taking back one thousand fold in the [ Near ] future.

The ACCC's a joke and always has been, just like the Competition Commission.
In the latter years of my working life I had first hand dealings with members of the ACC (during Professor Fells reign) & I was extremely disappointed in their performance.

Despite the ongoing 'displeasure' with the Woollies and Coles discount dockets some insight into general diesel prices I have observed along the Bruce Hwy QLD past week ... leaving out any Woolies and Coles servos.
Brisbane - ranging from 144.9 to 148.9

Travelling down the Burnett and New England average price was around $1.50, cheapest $1.43, also noticed that Caltex tended to be the dearest in all towns, they must be franchise dealers as you would get 2 Caltex stations in the same town with a difference of 3 or 4 cents, strange. I agree there should be no difference in price of fuel I think a lot to do with it is greed.

Try the Shell on the Bribie Island Road at 148.9 for diesel, the others including the 7-11 on the same road around 141.9 but don't worry you get your 8c per litre off, so effectively you are saving 1c per litre. I have taken my business elsewhere. Geoff and Bev

These discoiunts may sound great but rest assured it is not costing the supermarkets anything, the opposite in fact. You are paying for these 'discounts' every time you purchase anything at either supermarket. I use the independent fuel suppliers who prices are usually the same or close the the so called discounted prices. We also buy as much as possible from independent grocers or roadside stalls. The main supermarkets have been raping our primary producers and their other suppliers for years.

In many cases the independents are cheaper generally. I see fuel prices all over the country, and use BP and Caltex often, but not the Coles Shell or Woollies Caltex. In SA there were 3 roadhouses in a 2 km stretch of the highway between Warrnertown and Pt. Pirie turn off. A Shell, (Warnertown) a BP (Bungama) and a Mogas (Tin Man). In one swift move, almost overnight, they have all magically been reincarnated as BP. None of them are 24 hour. They provide meals and truckie services such as showers and overnight parking. Oh, in case you were wondering, the price is the same other all 3. Private enterprise? I think not! We still frequent Bungama out of loyalty, although the Lasagna at Tin Man is great tucker. In Perth this week diesel averaged 1.46/litre. Across the Nullarbor Madura Pass and Border Village had the dearest diesel. Eucla Caltex is 1.86 as is Mundrabilla. Safe, happy and economical travel.

The question i would like to ask is where or what is this fuel watch doing to keep check of all this( charge what you feel like ) rip off from all these petrol companies /opperators. ...We only hear about what a barrel of oil is selling for, never any thing much regarding price fixing.
