It's probably just not feasible to trawl through everything , but there must be some absolutely memorable posts/ comments among this vast number of posts. Any one with any particular memories?

Its difficult to remember individual posts from over the years, some of the people have been memorable. Some pioneer members who are still here since 2005 include MikeMin, Turbopete, sparra, Miker, GeoffSA, Jangary, PeterD and Thommo. Good on you all, and Thank You!

I think there are too many posts each day to pick even one or two out. 'Memorable' would mean something different to each person. I'm afraid I just (usually) enjoy everyone's posts. I haven't been around as long as Gerty to name the long time members.

I wasn't here in 2005 Ruth! If you click on "list all users", at the bottom of the page select "Sorted by" and click on "Member since" .... all will be revealed. I picked out the names of a few who are still active.

I realised that Gerty but I thought you 'knew' more of those older ones than I did.

We in the past have had people on this forum complain about people not posting , Well looking at the member on this forum from 2005 who are still on this forum who have not posted and some very little post , I believe it great that some people get so much out of this forum without posting and are still active member to this day from 2005 , If all the active member of this forum all wanted to post like some of us , The forum would crash under the pressure and also very hard to follow

The best are invariably the most innovative/ informative, followed closely by good natured/well intentioned original humour.......the least, IMO, that hoary subject of "Free Camping" which now elicits more ill will than good will IMO, yet remains possibly one of our most important considerations for our travelling future......the 'on line' comraderie of folk we may never even meet maintains our sense of well being.....liking to read those we feel we dislike, just to make sure we still dislike their views and they havn't changed camps...Lol........ I say thanks to ALL posters....Hoo Roo

The ex member in this category who I miss the most is Dave06.
In fact he actually had a great deal of relevant knowledge but just had a knack of getting my back up, & a few others too I suspect.
At least there was never a dull moment when he was on the forum. It was often a very fiery place. I had to take time out every now & then. SWMBO would constantly ask 'why do you keep going to the forum if it upsets you so much'?
It was just amazing what he was able to achieve & share with us on the forum.
I would not be surprised if he was lurking round the place with another alias.
I keep a look out for his distinctive message format, just in case.
All that aside, I think that I get the most from those 'Technical' posts about things like Batteries, TV reception and the like & most of all from descriptions & pictures of great places that we too have visited.

If Dave 06 had done half the things he professed to have done he would have to be 125 years old at least.

Thanks for the memories. I have been negligent in my duties to my fellow GN's, but I do pop in from time to time.
If anything relevent to grey nomads and their travel experiences spring to mind I try to pop in and list them. If anyone has any questions about road behaviour, particularly around oversize loads, please feel free to ask.
My biggest gripe is still about mirrors - you must have adequate extension/towing mirrors. Cameras are not enough, and are not yet legal aparatus to provide vision to the rear.
The other grip is UHF radio. Get one!!! Monitor channel 40 or scan so you can hear the road conditions, the presences of oversized loads and pilots, accidents or other events on the highway which may affect or impede your progress.
It's been a memorable 5 years and I don't forget you. I've made some wonderful friends through the forum, and met some interesting individuals.
Just for info, my last job started in Whyalla and ended in Singleton. Then it was Mudgee to Perth. I'm on my way home now, as it's gone a bit quiet. Currently resting at Wudinna, home tomorrow.
By the way, if you're ever passing this way, take the time to enjoy the granite statue on the Eyre Highway which reflects this region's rural history. It really is beautiful. then there's the Big Galah at Kimba, the Big Wombat at Coorabie, west of Penong, and the Big Kangaroo at Border Village.
The Nullarbor is flush and green at the moment after to good rainfall. It's really worth spending time on the great plain to enjoy this rare occurrence. While you're there check out the Bight. The whales are on their way. Watch the wildlife on the highway. There is a lot of feed and water about.
I have many fond memories due to the GN Forum, and in person.

Great to get an update from you CG. Always wonder where you are when you haven't been on here for a while. Your stories have been some of the most interesting and enjoyable to read. Plus you advise on the awning to which I had the same fitted, was most valuable meetingyou at Greens and getting first hand instructions. One day we will meet again. You never know whose around the corner.

I would have to say the 2 most memorable highlights from this forum would be getting so much help and info when I needed it, couldn't have managed without it. The other being meeting so many grey nomads in person, sometimes more than once. What a wonderful way to make new friends.
