We travelled it anyway. So for those who may follow, currently it has some rough patches due to traffic ruts. I also has some frequent boggy patches, so watch the swing on your van. But its still beautiful!

A quick phone call to the Pink Roadhouse at Oodnadatta and they will tell you all you need to know. Extremely helpful.
