Well you would'nt read about it, 70km from Camooweal and 50km across the border into Northern Territory the water pump on the cruiser packs a sad. No cell phone coverage, Sat phone can not be used for 1800 numbers it appears. A passing motorist took me to a police station to ring RACQ. Result, Cruiser on trayback with van behind to CP in Camooweal. Could be here about a week all going well, but thats allso what we thought down in Melbourne . Hears hoping it is only a week.

I'll be doing most of the repair myself, so that will keep me out of misschief. And Bugger, there is no Bunnings, Supercheep, Auto Mart out here.

Gday...
Bugger and damn ... glad it turned out not too bad, and a week's "holiday" in Camooweal ain't that bad.
It should serve as a reminder to us all that no matter what vehicle you have, or contemplate having, you always run the risk of a mechanical breakdown.
Also, if that vehicle breaks down away from any major town there will be a long wait for the bit that broke.
Just because you have a Toyota (no matter what the drive train) will not give you a guarantee of avoiding a "holiday" somewhere.
Being a member of a motoring organisation (RACQ/RACV/NRMA etc) or the manufacturers Roadside Assistance is the only thing that will give you some degree of confidence.
Anyway Brandt and Lorraine, savour the rest, cook up a stew with a pav for dessert, wash it down with a suitable liquid and enjoy those sunsets.
Cheers - John

Jeez Kiwi As, you are having a bad run with that vehicle. Hope you catch a lot of fish when you get going. We are on our way to Townsville to try for a fish or two ourselves. Cheers Val.

All the best kiwi-as and kiwi rainbow. Patience is the name of the game I would say. That cruiser will soon be so worked over it will be very saleable when you're ready to go home. It will certainly be a far better car than you bought.

Got the water pump dismantled out of the cruiser today, had to pull half the front of the motor out to get access, but we got there in the end.

In times like these Kiwi-as, wondering whether one could send out a help signal to anyone passing your way from Mt Isa that could have purchased and dropped the parts off for you a bit quicker. Something else the forum could be of help for perhaps....just pondering.
We waited 16 days in Alice for a part for the Territory and 7 days in Broome for a tyre!
Anyway hope you will be on your way soon.
Cheers

Wasn't it the water pump that gave you trouble up near Pomona last year?
Just as well you're happy to do some spring cleaning, kiwi rainbow. Last time I passed through Cammoweal, there wasn't much to do.
Isn't it great the way passing motorists will help you out. Happened to us a couple of times.
