I am curious to see how many members are True Blue Born and Bred Australians, or, like myself wafted in from another country but have decided to hit the road and explore this huge fantastic country that we now call home?
The reason I ask is that certainly in the UK, the possibility and even thoughts of hitting the road for extended periods of time just do not happen, perhaps it's the weather, maybe it's a cultural thing, I'm not sure, hence the question.
So, can I ask four Questions;
Born and Bred = Y/N
Country of Origin = (not applicable if answer to Q1 is yes!!)
Time Lived in Australia = (not applicable if answer to Q1 is yes!!)
Why Are You Travelling = General Question to All
I know there will be folk who have lived here for many years and came as "10 pound Pom's" or the like, but I'm interested to hear from you too.
Thanks for taking part and satisfying my idle curiosity, too much time on my hands!!

Thanks to all that have taken the trouble to reply
It basically confirms our own thoughts in that;
This is without a doubt beautiful country, that has so many wonderful places to see, that can't be done just by looking at pictures from the comfort of your own lounge, and that it is better to be out there doing something and embracing life & freedom than sitting around waiting for the inevitabal.
As kesue rightfully pointed out, in the old country people would be classified as Gypo's.
Also, conforming to what people believe to be normal also plays a big part in the attitude towards caravan life. Thankfully we have the right and the freedom to do what we chose, or are able to do (within reason and the law)
Thanks for responses.

I was born in the UK (Bristol) came here 22 years ago. We caravan but not full time. You are correct about travelling in the UK, people that live full time on the road are regarded as gypsies, or they were at the time we left. Keith

I'm a 10 pound pom. I was born in England (Manchester) and came here from Weymouth (having lived in about5 or 6 places in between) with my parents in1963. Having been born without a nesting gene I find it difficult to stay put anywhere but I did manage to live in Aust (several different places) until I started travelling seriously which I think was 1996 or 7 (I did 3 month trips every year for a few years before that). I wandered overseas from then until Dec 2010 at which time I bought my van and started looking around Aust. Why do I do it? Who knows? I just think it beats sitting in one place worrying about all the ***&&&!!! that most people seem to think is worth worrying about. I'm also curious about most things and I like to see stuff for myself - not satisfied with reading about them or watching TV shows.

Why Are You Travelling = General Question to All Since I became ill in 2004 and then medically retired in 2010 - my hubby and I decided that we must do the trips we had been dreaming off - whilst I am still able to enjoy it. We are slowly getting through the list and my health is stable (at the moment) so we will keep investigating our great country.
