Is anyone else having trouble with Hotmail. All our contacts seem to have disappeared. One of my daughters said someone told her at work today they were also having similar trouble.

Googling gives some sites with information to retrieve them.
I'm with Acenet, where I can login to my account for details & into all my contacts, emails etc via "World Client"
Suggest you check with your server.
Don't forget to export your contacts to a backup device.
Best of luck

I think one of my friends had her Hotmail contacts hacked. I got a 'private message' from her that I had to give my password again - so I didn't. Maybe that has happened. My Hotmail a/c is still OK. They say gmail is better,

My contacts have disappeared on my laptop but are still there on the desktop. Both run from a wireless router in the home.
There is a note on the Hotmail site to say they were having trouble with the contacts on 4/6 but the problem has now been resolved.......not mine!
Hope it is fixed soon

Hotmail is not reliable in my opinion. I had quite a few problems with it over the years, then it locked me out. Fortunately I had kept a written list of contacts, then used Windows outlook for a while, now on gmail. Gmail has been a bit tricky to use, the Hotmail program was the easiest I think. I wish you good luck with finding your contacts list again... maybe try another computer? (its weird)
You never need to go to the Hotmail web site again. If you do it this way, then all your addresses are stored locally in OE's address book. Believe me, it is 1000 times more convenient to access your email via POP.
You can also do the same thing for your Yahoo or Gmail accounts.
BTW, in Australia we don't need a Yahoo Plus account. A free Yahoo account will suffice.

I use hotmail for everything other than personal emails. The idea being that if I begin to get annoying SPAM then I can just abandon the address & set up another.
Each time I go overseas I set up a new hotmail address & advise relos & close friends of the new address for urgent or important stuff. This way it is easier than sorting thru lots of junk mail & unimportant stuff. I just abandon that address after the trip.
In the years that I have used Hotmail it has been great. Haven't had even one problem. My address book/contacts list is still there.
I think that I have a Gmail address but have never used it.

I believe the Hotmail contacts are backed up on Skydrive.

To every-one who PM'd me, I'm not ignoring you. Normally, when I've deleted things from the E-mails, I still have notification that I have PM's on this page. Didn't work that way tonight, and I don't know why. So I have no idea what your messages were I'm afraid.
There were about 7 of you all told. Also, all the messages began with "no-reply". That's new too, for PM's from GN's.
Hope it doesn't happen again, although if I get another "no reply" thing, I'll open it in OE, before deleting it.
Cheers,
Sheba.

I've used a variety of Email clients, and am currently using Windows Live Mail. It auto opens both my current Bigpond & Hotmail accounts when I log into it.
Could add more mailboxes if I wished I suppose. I think that my contact lists sync across both mail servers.

FYI, you can set up your email client (eg Outlook Express or Mozilla Thunderbird) to receive and send emails from or to your Hotmail account:
