If camping at Inskip Point near Gympie in QLD, be aware the burglaries from RVs and tents camping there has become an epidemic. The campers are wanting warning signs erected telling campers and RVers that this area is a HIGH CRIME AREA.Rang my mate back in Glady tonight and he read the article out to me from the local paper down there. So thought it best to let all fellow travellers the situation there.
Regards Herbie.

Inskip is a lovely place. Unfortunately, particularly on long weekends and holiday periods it attracts a "Bogan" element. Still a lovely place though.

There was a discussion on facebook about this, a local person saying it was because of the "transient" population, others saying it was "locals. Its interesting that facebook doesn't censor swearwords like the activeboard does! In any case, apparently theres been quite a few items stolen at that campground at night, so be careful, chain up what you cant lock up.

Amen to the lack of censorship on FB. We have camped there many times as we live in Gympie, but have always had our big dog. But theft is an epidemic down there unfortunately, they are even cutting boat motors from boats. Horrid behaviour.

Was thinking of going in for another look, may have to just make it a day trip.
Will be in Gympie in a few days, maybe a coffee.

welcome for a coffee, do you know what day? happy for you to pull up overnight if you like if we here or not. Don't give up on Inskip it's Beautiful but just be really security conscious with your stuff. we always chain our Gennie and put the chairs inside if we go out, never leave temptaion for those that feel they can take advantage of those that have worked hard for their possessions.

If they are cutting boat motors from boats ,doubt chaining Geri or solar panels to what ever would deter these scum bags.Maybe be a nice place ,but do not think it would be real relaxing and enjoyable with so much theft going on and I believe it is not just happening on week ends and long weekends from what I am hearing.Talking to a block up here in Weipa tonight regarding this behaviour down there and he was saying he comes from Harvey Bay and over the last 6 months it has become a continual.Even that bad people are calling it a no go area.
