I am led to believe the 3 major parks are all owned by the same guy so he has the monopoly
Otherwise Virginia but it's a fair way out
All will be expensive.........typical Darwin

Hi All
After some advise on a caravan park that is close to Darwin city that would be suitable for long term stay as we are looking at going there for work.
Has anybody spent the wet season in a caravan and what precautions do we need to take?
Any help from more experienced travellers would be greatly appreciated. Have just spent the last 6 months in Gladstone QLD and survived 860ml of rain in 3 days over January long weekend, can't imagine Darwin would be much worse. Just wondering about annexes and such.

Probably won't be the wet you'll worry about, it'll be the 2-3 months beforehand. You'll be really, really pleased when the rain starts. I spent a couple of years in a 24 ft Glendale with wife and 2 little kids in Cairns. Got kicked out of the CP because the youngest screamed so much from teething troubles. Carlton Mid Strength [ at least that's what they drank in north WA when I was there ] is what you'll need, about a carton per night and just above freezing point. Our forebears survived in corrugated iron houses, surely we can survive in a caravan.

Good Post Mick The wife and I are in Broome and thinking about doing the same, so I'm pleased you asked the question. So far the info I have gleened is
1) It's not the rain it's the humidity 2) Cyclone season, be prepared to strap down or move on 3) keep a smile on your face, we're all in the same boat

Shady Glen is near the airport but I'm on a property at Berry Springs at the moment and the noise of the planes is pretty loud here too each night. I met a guy at Palmeston yesterday working here for two yrs and he lives on the park at Howard Springs and has done for the whole time. He says it would be the best park in Darwin if they spent a little money on it, he is still happy there though. The others have been spruced up and the prices have gone up since last year. Tess
