The 2013 diesel GXL 4 cyl might do the job, not keen on 6 cyl.......
The Prado has continous 4x4 with a duel range ( low& high ratio rears) & lockable dif.
There are so many considertations to take into a account
Size of cargo area is critical , so is performance.
I have read a lot of information but there is always more questions left to be answered.
Jeep Cherokee also takes my interest , a lot of extras for less money than a prado GXL
Nisen is good but the rear seats do not fold away as well as the prado
The thought of a king cab with a canapy is on my mind also ,finding one with diesel auto etc is a issue.
would like a vehicle that has a cargo area of close to 1800 mm so as I could sleep in it if required.
also need a flat floor to roll in a scooter , these things are heavy.( need a good strong cargo area floor.)
My garage is 7 ft 6 ins wide ..... the prado is 1880 wide, a bit of a worry .
I do like the rear camera in the GXL prado
Has anyone got any ideas or thoughts
cheers from Paul

Good luck choosing the best one for your purposes towing with a 4 cylinder unless its diesel i think is doing it the hard way.

Look at a Mazda BT50 duel cab ute 2 wheel drive $40,000 drive away. 5 cylinder diesel 6 speed auto 13 ltrs towing 2.5 tons average over 2500 klms, 8 ltrs around town. Love it after Ford Territory used 23 ltr average to darwin last year
Yep ... thanks, I will get my ass to the Mazda shop
I've been looking at Mazda there seems not to be a wagon diesel 4x4 . ( or suitable ute and canopy )
I will keep looking for any alternative but so far the prado is the most suitable. Fuel useage is a little better also in prado

Jeez Paul .I have to say you are jumping around a bit mate .If you want to sleep or fit a scooter you can wipe any Prado, pajero jeep etc straight off Cause they are too small. You say cargo area is critical ?I frankly can,t see any 4x4 meeting your specific criteria.Like many of us you may have to forego 1or 2 items in preference for another .All the best John
