Poor Charlie. We lost him last week.

Charlie had a bad stutter but a shrink explained to him that if he changed his lifestyle and ensured that he maintained a calm demeanour through everything he did, his stuttering would reduce, perhaps even go. Charlie had paid a lot of money to get the advice, so he took it on board.

He started scuba diving for the first time in his life. Worked a treat. His stuttering showed a huge improvement. Next, he joined a mountain climbing expedition and made it to the top of Everest. The stuttering had all but gone. Every new adventure improved him to the point that he had, to all intents and purposes, lost his stutter.

One sport had always interested Charlie, skydiving. He went through all the on-ground training and was declared ready to go. Took his dual and learnt to count to ten before pulling the rip cord. Went up in the Cessna for his first solo. Sadly, his 'chute failed to open. Witnesses said, just before he hit the ground, they were sure they could hear him calling out, "S-su-su-s-su-su-s-su-su-seven..." 

Not meant to be offensive to anyone with a stutter. It runs in our family...
