I love having an oven in my van. I love to cook.
As for the avatars, I did a search on google with "free avatars" and I just looked for one I liked. Mine is that it's never my fault, no matter how much I get blamed for it :p

The grill in our van has been used once. It didn't work very well, too slow and made the caravan smell of cooking. Its handy to store things in, but I'd like an oven instead.

You'll find everyone has a different opinion on them but we used our oven all the time when we were permanently in the caravan. The griller can be handy to toast bread, no toaster means a bit less clutter and more room to store stuff room
Cheers

I use my oven as an oven quite a bit. When it's not being used as an oven I find it a good place to store stuff - especially stuff that would attract ants.
My avatar relates to the fact that I spend a large part of my life lost with no idea where I'm going - and I actually like it that way.

It's a personal thing.
We have never used our grill in 14 years but it's part of the gas burners/grill/oven unit. On second thoughts may have grilled a couple of slices of toast with baked beans & cheese and capsicum topping just to see if it worked.
SWMBO insists on having an oven. Has even used it several times when away for several months & needs to do a roast. Could use our large 'banquet' size electric frypan instead I reckon. I sometimes use it to do scones.
In the meantime it's great for storing stuff. But then we have lots of storage space.
I took my current avatar off a video doing the rounds a few years ago. If I see any pictures that take my fancy I copy them to a folder for possible future use. Got hundreds of them. I sometimes use a scanner to do the same thing. I'm not smart or arty enough to create my own.

Our Van has a good oven and the wife loves to use it however I am a camp oven lover and use it when I can.
The previous van had an oven as well but it was a bit useless according to the wife.
She reckons that an oven is warranted in a van.

But you do need to be careful and have at least one vent open.

I have a gas stove and griller. A griller is useful for grilled cheese and tomato on toast, which I love. I wouldn't bother using it for steaks, sausages, etc, because of the mess. I'd use a griddle or camp BBQ. I also have a collapsible stove-top oven for bread, scones, meatloaf, etc. As to my avatar, I use a pic of myself in case someone thinks I'm gorgeous. :)

Gary hasn't replied to my post yet Wild1, so I don't know if he's got the same one I have. Here's the link to the one I bought.
If you Google it, you'll see quite a few Youtube spots, showing how it can be used.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Yes, Sheba, I got the Coleman. It's a very clever design and I'm impressed. Very easy and quick to assemble and disassemble. Had to buy new bakeware to fit but that's okay. And thanks Wild1 - I'm blushing.

The oven is a cooktop/grill/ Chef model and is great in winter. Cooks great baked veges, bread, cakes, while the grill is used for toast.

We had only used our oven once (and it was hard to light) and the previous owner had never used it. We used it for storage. When the smell of gas started and we couldn't find the leak we took the gas top and oven out and replaced it with a new gas top only. The space was then used to house the microwave. We do have a small toaster oven attached to the wall and use this for baking, grilling and roasts - when we are on power. It comes down to 'it's a personal choice' which depends on whether you enjoy cooking or not.

Every one to their own on this subject, ...would never have an oven inside a van after having had two of them. They make the van smell of what ever is cooked inside them (you may not notice it but anyone who pops their head inside will ) they are slow to cook most things for what reason I do not know. The van we have now has no oven, just the hot plates three gas and one electric and the gas grill underneath. But have only used that a few times in just over two years. We have a baby Q BBQ and use that if wife wants to bake any thing also have a small electric oven out side.toaster /grill/and bake )...And really who wants to be away travelling and spend time inside a van cooking. And the mess it all makes. The cooking smell from the oven penetrates into the fabric of the curtains seat covers bed linen. Even the cloths inside and under the bed. I have been stading near people at happy hr who have used their oven and can smell the roast or what ever on them from the odour.
