One of the things I love about this forum is that every now and again I get to meet up with someone that I've only chatted to previously. Well yesterday I pulled into the Alligator Creek campsite and rang Dougwe - and he came for a visit. It was so good to meet him and we had a great afternoon chatting over coffee. Thanks for driving all this way Doug.

You must be a local native Lynda cos they all reckon things are a long way away. Like my daughter here, they are 15 mins out of the Townsville CBD but reckon its miles out.

You're not referring to a Kombi are you?
I'm always a little paranoid about how much noise the sliding door on my Kombi makes in the dead of night, so I bought a porta-potty. I rarely have use it, but a friend who sometimes accompanies me on short trips gets up at least twice through the night.

Never QK, never. It's good though that you think of other campers, makes for happy campers all round. I try to be as quiet as a mouse at all times but being the size of a rat it becomes difficult sometimes.

Went for a wander around at about 9pm and noticed there were 6 very very large trucks in thetruck stop. Now I happen to have noticed (because I'm a very observant person) that truckies have a penchant for starting their motors at seriously uncivilised hours so I slept with ear plugs, Doug, and I didn't hear a thing.

It's always great to meet, in person, my GN friends. It's just like they popped in for a cuppa because we know so much about each other. Well, as much as we reveal. I've also been nervous about my "whizz bang" Betty. I try to keep the whizz and the bang to a minimum. As for truck stops, it's a combination of motors pumping up (air for breaks and suspension), idling down the turbo charger, or running the Fiesa ice pack or the generator running an airconditioner. And then there are the fridge vans. We share a lot of roadhouses and parking bays, so I can relate to what you said. I haven't needed ear plugs in Betty yet, but I wish I had some sometimes in the cot tent.
