At long last we found a Mazda campervan which will suit us down to the ground it is a 1994 e2000, had an R.A.A. check done on it and was amazed to find that there is hardly anything wrong with it has been garaged since new and has only had two owners both of which have looked after it really well. Picking it up on Saturday then the sky is the limit or should I say earth. Helena.

Can't wait to see Pics., both interior and exterior Helena. I have a "Whizz-bang" [Toyota Hi-ace], and they don't need to be too noisy. I spray the relevant bits on the sliding door with WD40 periodically, and that helps cut the sound down.

It has a back step in it so we would probably use that so wouldn't annoy anyone we are that excited as have been off the road for a year and can't wait to get tings sorted out in it so we can start travelling again. Thanks for the tip with the WD40. Helena.

That's wonderful news Helena. Les and I used our Tarago to sleep in, taking with us chairs and a table with camping stuff, we went to Broken Hill for our honeymoon for a week camping out. It was great, we had a huge moon roof so we would open it at night to watch the stars in bed. We have the same set up in our van too, a hatch above the bed you can see the stars. I love it.

I have a whiz bang too, unless I have no option I try to park away from others if I can, however this is not always possible.
However this is the nature of the beast and caravans etc can be just as noisy (TV's going late at night, winding up of legs, doors slamming, voices etc of those making early departures) so a bit of tolerance by all.
When I requested a bay away from others at a CP, the owner said your money is the same as theirs and whiz bang owners aren't the only noisy ones, so don't worry about it.
We do try to minimize the use of the door at night, and yes, we do use a bucket for that purpose....
Being garaged does not always mean a lot for RV's, depends on how often they are used, after all if owners are frequent travellers the RV will be out in the elements during their travels. If an RV is not used often then it is a different story.
OT for Neil, regards your recent trip to Clearville, I see a member who is/was up there after you said they had graded it recently....

That's right Duh, after the recent 209mm rain one day the road in was flooded and washed out in one part. Not helped by the Dodo that went around the Road Closed sign & got bogged.
It has all been repaired now and graded right through. Its like a highway now.
Today is the first virtually windless day for some time there & 26oC, very pleasant.

I have a bucket with a lid too, called a porta potti, problem is that I can't get to it sometimes (too much stuff in the van) and have to use the door to go to the loo.

I've actually had a very rude person tell me not to camp in a park because they didn't want a "whiz-bang" near them. I find the term is often used offensively by motorhome and caravan owners, even tho I find their TV and music just as annoying. As a matter of fact my van has an electric locking mechanism on the sliding door and it should NEVER be closed with a bang. Plus I regularly clean the tracks and lubricate with silicone spray to keep it as quiet as possible. But really, no-one should park so close to me that my night-time toilet needs annoy them! We all have to buy what suits our needs and budget, but if anyone finds my van annoying they are welcome to buy me a $100k Winnebago for Christmas. Till then, I love my Mini-Bagow (Bed & grub on wheels). You go for what makes you happy, Helena.

The whizbang can't be too annoying , everyone with a gennie seems to like to park on top of me and point the exhaust at me.
Not to mention the noise that caravanners make with engines running, clanging and banging, squeaky wind up legs, loud voices etc made by early starters who feel they must take off prior to the crack of dawn. Also TV's blaring late at night. So tolerance needed on all sides.
My sliding door has to be given some momentum the first time or it will not shut, so better one try than several others trying to get it to close quietly, and this is with cleaning sliders/lubrication etc. I try to minimise using the door at night unless I have to go outside, however if I do and I have tried to park away from others, then that is the nature of the beast and I am not going to apologise for it, these are classed as RV's and have as much right as others to be where they are and be used as such.
I do believe in consideration for others within reason though, irrespective of what type of RV anyone has.
