Has anyone had experience with towing a 20' Jayco Caravan with a Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R 2009 model diesel?

As my Land Rover Discovery has just been written off as described in separate post, I have today been offered for purchase a 2009 Mitsubishi Triton GLX-R 2.5 litre Diesel, Manual gears, twin cab .
My Jayco is approx. 19' tandem Heritage and the vehicle I have been offered has only 26000 kms on clock however after owning three Land Rover Discos previously I have little idea if this vehicle would effectively tow my Jayco?...I took it for a test run today and it certainly is a lively motor to drive however this may mean little when towing. I believe it is supposed to have 3000Kg towing capacity and 2.5 litre diesel motor with 131kW/343Nm ? power....
Has anyone personal experience with this type of vehicle and what are any downsides .

Technically and mechanically a sound vehicle and I don;t think you'd have too much trouble towing what you describe, you may be uo and down the gearbox a bit on hills, and you certainly won't want to use 5th very much if at all. But, there are a lot of them out there doing a grand job. We service a lot of them and they are mechanicall very reliable and not to bad to work on.

That is exactly the vehicle I have (2010 mine) and it tows our 18'6 Paramount full van with ease and returns 13 - 16 L/100km doing it.
Previously I had a 80 series petrol cruiser and the Triton pulls this van more easilly and more economically then the cruiser did.
On the flats I tow in 5th gear (overdrive) at 100 kmh as this is it's sweet spot for economy.
I love it, in fact it is the second one since the cruiser. Had a 2007 3,2L and this one is as good or better.

Mate just got a new one to tow a Jayco freedom and reckons it's a slug and is planning on getting rid of it on his return from Rocky

Just heard that he's stuck in Rocky with a gear box problem. Towed into town might be causing the lack of performance,will know more tonight. With 2000k on the clock it may be the Friday Lemon. ,

My husband and I had Triton and 20ft van, could not complain, found no fault with Triton, fantastic job towing, never missed a beat, sorry to see it go, hubby has health issues so we had to sell, sure you will have no problems.

Thanks for all the replys..they gave me confidence to go ahead today and buy the Triton GLX-R first registered in 2010 from Bendigo Mitsubishi....havn't hitched it up yet to my Caravan...will do so over next couple of days...still a tad jittery after my towing accident last week.....seven days now and I still have had no response from Insurance Company...Assessor was supposed to view it today at Cowell on Southern Eyre Peninsula S.A. where it still lies on a farmers property....Dealer told me the 2.5 litre model 4 x 4 Dual Cab has 3000kg maximum towing capacity, and maximum towball download of 300kg and Maximum Power of the Manual model 131kW @4000 rpm and 400Nm @ 2000 rpm and which all seems respectable enough..the proof will be in the pudding.....hope I can keep it on its wheels and not its roof this time...! Hoo Roo
