Is there anyone who has recently stayed in or near Roma. I have heard it could be difficult to get a powered site and prices are a little high. May be staying out of the town is a better option if anyone has a recommendation.

Hi SueB, I don't recall seeing you here before so welcome from me, enjoy here and out in the playground.
When I was in the area a few months back I stayed at Surat, just south of Roma, a gold coin donation for a lovely spot along side a little river run by the local fishing club. Clean toots and friendly campers. Gets you out of the bigger towns and costly accommodation. I actually found Roma not very friendly.

Roma was a bit anti caravaners..... We loved Yuleba free camp. Also Muckadiila hotel or camp ground was good.

Hi SueB we stayed at the Roma Villa caravan park next to the winery on the Injune road $33 a night ring first , We enjoyed Roma nice town go to the cattle sales

A bit over a year ago we were warned not to go there as there were no vacancies anywhere due to flood reconstruction workers... surely they have finished by now?

Last time we stayed out there we stayed at the show grounds, Care taker was on site m/f showers and toilets set up in a donga type building but was vert clean .There was power and unpowered sites and a dump point down the back.
Do not know of any free camps close to Roma,they do not need to encourage visitors to stay for free due to the mining that is going on out there.

We were in Roma last night, we booked ahead as suggested and got into the Big Rig Caravan Park, is Top Tourist and I think it was just under $30 with discount. The park is nothing much, manager not very friendly but was okay. You would need to book ahead as they were all full by mid morning by the look of it.
We saw the Villa which looked okay also, a little further out of town. Also as mentioned you can camp at the Show Grounds and we came past them and it looked fine, quite a few vans there. We stayed at Surat the night before at the free camp which is very good.
Hope this is of some help.
If you stay at Roma make sure you visit the cattle sales, they are on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8am and very interesting.

Roma is not a Friendly R V town. There is virtually no free camp with in a bull's roar of the town. Suggest that you might like to try
Meadowbank Farm Stay( P.N0. 46223836 ) approx 12 klms west of Roma. Son stayed there for a few nights. Could be the closest camp to Roma, otherwise it would have to be Wallumbilla to the east or Muckadilla to the west. But the petrol coast who equal the cost of a c. Park in the town.
