Hmm thanks for that, been seriously thinking of getting one, as it is about the only thing left that i need to make freecamping that little more comfortable, Wonder what the Installation charges would be ?? as i assume you would need a licensed plumber ??

Hi Dazren.
You would not require a licensed plumber to install a Diesel heater, I installed ours and if you take your time and are handy with tools it should be able to be completed successfully.

I had my gas heater put in in Adelaide by Camdec and it was almost as dear as I payed for the heater.
I had no choice as we were in transit and not a lot of tools on board.

Bought one of the units off ebay last year from same place and works a treat
I installed myself which I did ok as I have a trade background
Would a very fiddly job if you aren't handy with your hands
Used an oil tank from an outboard for a fuel tank

Hi Dazren, if you look on the "tech corner" thread I had started a query there titled "dometic airtronic diesel heater" about half way down the page and there have been some very informative replies on there that may also help you?

Gooday I have bought a Prestige Diesel heater in kit form which includes a small fuel tank, I mounted the heater unit under the bed and the outlet blows towards the other end of the van, our van is a Avan Liam hard top and this heater will heat the van in about 5 minutes, I think it is absolutely brilliant. If you read the fitting and especially the wiring instructions carefully (as you do the second attempt) fitting this unit is quite simple, only a bit fiddly.

We have ordered our new caravan with a Truma E2400 gas heater fitted, after reading numerous for and against Gas (which is supposed to be quite) Vs Diesel (and the Tic, Tic noise) we decided gas was the go. Hoping that it will work OK find out soon enough as we will be heading to Tassie and doing a lot of free camping.

We ordered a received a Prestige Diesel heater kit $850 delivered, from CFR Caravan supplies, they had a display at the Wauchope Caravan show and I thought it was quite a good unit, I fitted it myself, I had a couple of questions regarding a missing wiring plug so rang the spare parts bloke, he was the most helpful person you could want and knew the unit inside out, I think this is important to have someone you can ring up and ask questions. I have bought numerous items from EBAY and find that most sellers don't know anything about the products they sell. This kit has everything including the fuel tank and works brilliantly, went to Copeton Dam for a couple of nights last weekend and it was great to run the heater before getting out of bed on pretty cool mornings.

PS I went for the diesel because I could fit it myself and I was a bit worried about having a gas unit under the bed.
Hi
I just found this in a news letter and thought it might be of interest to some one.
