As posted on your previous question - your route looks good - but unsure if you are using caravan parks or free camping, so hard to answer your questions directly.

Thanks Jules 47,
Would like to use as many free camping sites as possible which could accommodate the bus and trailer.
We intend to take it slow, and maybe do the caravan park thing once a week to top up.....
Cheers,

Have you got your copy of the "bible" - Camps Australia Wide? Invaluable - and also check the budget and free camping sub forum on here!!

We have done a few different trips from south from St George, both times down through Dirimbandi ??? Lightning Ridge and Walgett. From Walget you can go across to Narrabri via Burren Junction and Wee Waa, not a great road from Walget but worth it. The other time we went south from Walget through Gilgandra to Dubbo. Just depends on what you want to see I guess. If you have time a detour to Nindigully is good fun. If your going through Gundawindi Nindigully is on the road............... Free camp showers and toilets with a great pub

The only bear trap on the route you have mapped out in my opinion would be if you stop for any length of time day or night in West Wyalong is don't leave any gear un attended ( like any thing that isn't glued down or inside of vehicle locked up. Only place we have had any thing nicked was in the main street there. In day light. When we reported it to police there, there attitude was Oh it happens all the time hear. So just a word of warning .What was taken was the extra veranda extension to our Oz tent.So another $600 odd dollars to replace it when we got to Echuca.(taken off roof rack and locked on but just cut the chain with bolt cutters.)

No where near there but the Black River CV Park here in Townsville lock the gates at 6.00pm for your safety and to keep unwanted's out.
Just be careful when you have a shower at this park as the caretaker has a big knife.
Enjoy your trip south Bill and Leslie. If I change my plans, as I am known to do, I could end up that way so will yell out.

Agree re the Nindigully Pub - a great spot to camp - and the pub is good fun as well.
Also re West Wyalong and also Walgett - lock everything up if you go there - in Walgett they even lock you in the motels at 9pm!!!!!!! Fencing all around.

Hi B&L
We covered the exact journey that you have mentioned about 2 years ago.
Great road and plenty of free camps. I am not sure if the free camp at Parkes is still available. Great spot.
We are heading from Brisbane to Bourke to follow the Darling and then across to Canberra along the Murrumbridgee The south to Melbourne.
Enjoy your trip
