We left Perth in early June and went to Adelaide via Broome etc, found many great free camps, and stayed in van parks as well to catch up on washing etc etc, I think the best park was the G'day Mate van park in Alice, reasonable price but after you book in the "boss man" comes out to the car explains where the laundry etc is then gets on his golf buggy thing and takes you to your spot will even park the van in if you can't' tells you everything you need to know, rubbish bins, local good pub meal, will definately go back.

Glad to see you've had a good time since leaving Perth, don't forget to change your signature (in Perth) maybe you left your heart behind!
It was great meeting you both when you were over here !

Yes we think the G'day mate is a great well-run park, too. How about adding it to the "Recommendations" section?

Heading to Alice in a couple of days, I have been reading about The Macdonald Ranges Caravan Park in Alice as the best park, do you know anything about it.
Cheers Tezzaworth

Haven't stayed there, its a bit out of town. For caravan park information, try this site....
It was a lovely clean park, good amenities and entertainment most nights. Our site was quite large, concrete slab and also a grassed area beside that to park the car. Our site was next to the amenities block .
I don't know what the prices are now but it was in the thirty dollars then.
We were only going to stay a couple of days but ended up 5, just so much to see and do in the Alice.

Stayed at the Macdonald Ranges just recently and gave it a score of 9/10.
We had an en-suite site. The staff were always helpful and the free pancake breakfast for all those staying there on a Sunday morning was an experience NOT to be missed.
Stay there, you won't regret it.

Thanks Pam we arrived here yesterday from kings Canyon, it is a very nice park only booked for 2 nights but the wifes happy with the green grass etc. so might stay for longer. They have an August/Sept special, If you stay for 7 days you get an extra 10% as well as your big 4 membership discount comes down to $36 per night which is good for a park this quality

WE stayed at the Macdonald ranges Caravan Park just two years ago and found it to be excellent and they also provide a free pancake breakfast on Sunday mornings but there can be long line ups for breakfast but that also creates the opportunity to chat to other travelers, Hope you have a terrific trip, The West Mac's are certainly fantastic make sure you visit each scenic location.
