MMM you wonder sometimes with cars and repairs after accidents. My youngest daughter hit a kangaroo in June coming home from work in her NEW Holden Cruze. $3600.00 worth of damage and, wait for it no parts in Australia as they have to come from Thailand. The panel beater has been great but it is frustrating for them both as half of the repair is done but the parts for the grill are hard to get especially one part apparently. The panel beater has informed my daughter that she should ring the Holden complaints line ??? don't think that would do any good if the parts are not here some much for Aussie made
Anyway Doug least you can still get on the road

Don't let a black cat anywhere near your car :)) You might remember in my update a few weeks back when in Hervey Bay Q'Land that I had someone back out of their driveway into the front right corner of my tug, well I just had a quote and am now suffering badly from shock.
Yep, what looked pretty minor has turned out to be $2,200.00 worth of damage, bugger. This is my first ever Insurance Claim and CGU have been great so far. The repairer will need the tug for 3 days but will lend me a car during that time so not too bad. Main problem is they have to replace the bull bar and there is a 4-6 week delay on that. Never mind, I can work around the plans already made to go to Batemans Bay in September (They are not changing) so no real drama. I'm still in shock though.

Sorry to hear. I notice that you state that you are making the claim. You're not paying the excess though are you?

Ouch !!!! Mate that is not good. But it does not take much of a dint, to make the $$$$$ mount up these days,
On the bullbar replacement, ?? get the one that has the ''Reversed scoop'' on the bottom ??? As if you hit any Fat,Low to the ground Wombats The scoop directs the body away from the vehicle, // Saving major panel damage ?? ---- and i tell you that for free

No Keith. as it is not my fault and I got the other driver details and had witnesses I pay no excess and don't loose my no claim bonus.
I just had a mate tell me I should change the story though as it sounds a bit woosy for a 4x4 :))

You don't need much damage to rack up a claim of thousands. Scratch a bumper and they want to replace it, most are repair by replacement, it's a very throw away industry nowadays.

Hi Doug, sorry to hear about your mishap, but I recon that is why we pay insurance premiums.
If the vehicle hit you from the side, and damaged the bull bar, make sure the repairer checks that the ends of the rails have not been twisted as well, they look incredibly strong, but they are easy to bend.
Accidents involving bullbars are famous for bending chassis rails, and it is often missed as the end of both are bent the same amount. Being a cruser it is likely that the first 8 inches will be moved (from the nick in the rail), it does no real damage except the new bar will look as if it is sitting of to one side, which it probably will be.

Keep away from Murphy and that Chinaman too Doug, they are worse than black cats....
I believe Wombat has the ability to change his shape etc, so you never know, he might be following you around
Glad you won't lose your bonus, but the inconvience is a PITA.....
Yep Duh has a point there, Dougwe, !! I was talking to Mrs Wombat, and she told me that many years ago, Wombat got a part in a Movie with STEVE McQUEEN !!
and he got the part because of womby's ability to change shape ???/
I think the movie was a Sci-Fi one it was about a group of young people trapped in a Movie theatre by some type of horrible being that swallowed them ??
I know it was titled ''The BLob'' and the more people the blob ate the bigger womb [ oops ] the Blob got ??

Best bit of advice anyone could give, and very very important,, as it may still drive smooth when fixed, but 5-10000 Klm later you may wonder where your tyres have gone ???
