We have to travel to Bundaberg on business and am wondering if anyone knows
of any free/cheap camp sites in the area . We may as well make the trip a short
holiday if there is somewhere to park up or a few days
Cheers

In the park right opposite the airport. I have stayed there often. Its not in the book, they come around and close the toilets for the night.
I have seen the same ones parked there more than one night.
Also someone on here has offered their place. You will have to do a search, I have forgotten the details.

there is a free park near Sharon, about 15 mins towards Gin Gin from Bundaberg.
As advised the park opposite the airport is used on a regular basis.

Beware that the Sharon Nature reserve is VERY noisy from early in am with commuters going to Bundy for work & then again after business hours going home. Very busy both directions.
The park opposite the airport is not listed as an overnighter & it does get checked out regarding this. It has the dump site though.

If you don't mind a bit of travel to Bundy, 50k, the Gin Gin show ground for around $18 I think or the free one north outskirts. Agree Sharon is noisy and can get packed out early. The free one near the airport on Childers road is the Lions Park.

The park at Sharon is also often crowded with backpacker type vans with young people who socialise till very late. Even tho I live 75km from Bundy, sometimes I am unable to drive home at the end of a day in town, and I can recommend Smith's Crossing.
