Today Cue C/P put up it's prices from $105 per week with concessions to
$162 per week pay for 6 recieve one night free with no concessions
$150 per week for aged pensioners and war vets
These prices were put up without notice and has upset the long termers who stay here and prospect

Cue is a town in WA south of Newman. The caravan park (C/P) has been up graded with excellent new facilities and sites. I guess they have to pay for it somehow and it still equates to only just over $20 per day. I know people who have been going there for years and staying for 3 months at a time - but I guess times are changing.

Can some one PLEASE explain to me .. as to why these caravan parks that get this grant from the government to do up their park
then go and jack up their prices for us the traveller to camp in can justify this.
All up this round of grants was over a million dollars.
I guess it doesn't mater if cliental falls ..as this up grade is for nicks...We the Tax payer are the only loser propping up someone elses business.
If there is money to burn I would rather see it going to feed farmers live stock in times of drought/and flood.
Why is a caravan park any different than any other business looked at in the eyes of the government for a hand out.

The $850000 which was spent on this park which is owned the the local council , Rate payer would expect to get something back for there outlay . On Townsville TV News last week reported that the Charters Towers council were upgrading Flecthers Creek free camp with toilet and shoer upgrade and up grade to the drinking water This council has a band of free camping within 20 klm of the town but is still funding free camping in there area , This may not please all but I would think this is a win win situation for everyone

If this was money was from the local council to do up grades to this park,yes they do need to recoup their outlay,but someone else on here posted it was from this grant that the GOVERMENT is handing out to caravan parks.
I am presuming that the grants do not have to be payed back.
That is why I was asking re price increase.

Maybe the upkeep on upgraded services will be more expensive. You can bet if the government spent our taxes upgrading a caravan park and then the park fell into disrepair due to lack of funds a lot would complain.
$150 a week is very reasonable I think

We stayed at Cue CP 2 yrs ago and it was $22 a night and the facilities were shocking. Many prospectors there were finding quite a lot of gold. Prospectors who were camped next to us spent 4 months there and said they netted close to $40,000 for their time up there. They showed us their haul after just a couple of weeks, amazing.
Have seen photos of the upgrade of facilities and it is such a huge improvement so can understand the increase in costs. Would certainly stay there again. The town itself has so much history and the buildings are incredible.
Apart from that we sited and photographed the very rare Grey Honeyeater. Also the pied Honeyeater.

I think $150 a week's not a bad price after spending $850,000 on an up grade,as has been said got to recoupe the cost some how..

They just have to hope that they still have the numbers as when they increase their rate they could expect to loose some of the people who now visit.
Is the park always full so they can increase the cost as they know even though they loose some there are plenty waiting to get in.
To me it does not matter as I don't frequent parks but it is still a business and they need to get the guests to pay the increase to stay afloat.
No customers at a high price gets no income while lots of guest at a lower price may make a fortune. Basic business logic.

That's still comparatively cheap. Some showgrounds are more than that, and facilities very ordinary. So the Cue C/P is still on our list, maybe we can find a nugget to fund the whole trip?
