I knew he was not in the best of health but am not sure if this was related to that, sounds like a heart attack.
RIP Bob and condolences to his wife Jane.

Sad news indeed, Bob was a great guy! Having only met him once at Beverley, he was warm, generous and just great to be around. My condolences to Jane.

Bob got his name from his business "Magic Gates" (Electronic). His customers knew him a Magic Bob.
Here is a pic of a GTG at Dwellingup (WA), some GN's will recognise themselves in the pic. Bob is in the rear with the black hat and singlet on, his wife Jane is standing on the right of the picture in front of me (I have a dark blue shirt on). I will leave it to others who were there to identify themselves if they wish to.

I never met Bob,but after reading all your condolences and beautiful thoughts i feel as though I have known him for ages.Thank you all for the touching memories of Bob.Cheers Ibbo.
I knew a "Magic Bob" from somewhere back when doing raingauge checks in remote regions...dunno where or under what circumstances but the name immediately rang a bell. The memory has a good feel to it, but sad that it has to end.
Thanks Sheba, I was about to google them to check the location and parking tomorrow so your post link was handy, here is the pdf for the location and parking which was an extension of the link your provided;

Hi Denis, I know he did a lot of travel to country areas giving them quotes for electric gates and installing them, so maybe it could have been him you came across in a pub or somewhere...

We went to Magic Bob's funeral today, Jayco Gypsy was also there. Interesting to note that Bob was also a War Veteran and served in the Air Force on choppers in Vietnam.
A copy of the service booklet is shown, please note I have covered the home address where the wake was held, if anyone would like to send a card let me know by pm and I will pm his wife Jane's address to you.
Thanks Vic, for sharing a remarkable mans farewell ..Although I never met Bob, one can only say he will be sadly missed by his close family and friends. RIP Bob.
Regards Herbie.

No worries Herbie, it was a privilege to have known Bob and his good wife Jane, both wonderful people.
And thanks to Sheba for tipping us off about his passing.
His wife Jane told us he suffered a heart attack on a treadmill while having a supervised stress test.

Just wanted to add that Bob, although born in NZ, was a very proud and passionate Australian and was very proud of his Australian Citizenship, his certificate shown on the wall behind his pic on the funeral service flyer.
He loved his Akubra hat and wore it everywhere, at his service his Akubra was sitting on his coffin, and those who attended were invited towards the end of the service to put a small Australian Flag into the hat band, these were handed out by the celebrant instead of flowers or twigs of Rosemary. A beaut touch and one I had never seen before.
I am glad Bob felt strongly enough about Australia to become a Citizen, so many reap the benefits and rewards we have in Australia without doing so in their lifetime. RIP Bob.

For those who met Magic Bob at the Beverly, WA Get-Together, I saw a post on another Forum tonight, advising that he has passed on.
Sheba.
Very sad news Sheba, thanks for letting us know, he was a bonzer bloke.
There are a couple of pic's of Bob on the Beverley GTG thread one on his electric scooter, see;
