I've recently had some problems with privacy issues, and thought I'd remind everyone to be very cautious of what you put on here or anywhere else on the www.
For example, put your username into the google search box along with a couple of other pertinent words like a family members name, and/or a suburb.
It may not seem like much, but a criminal mind can add up all the little bits of info to steal your identity, or whatever else criminals do.
How exactly they do it is beyond my non criminal mind, but it happens all the time, and it's getting worse.
I think adding number with letters can help we have been doing so for a couple of years

When I first joined this forum I stated there was a lot of personal information being put forth here. It's a great place but one does need to take care of what they actually post and keep their profiles limited.

Welcome back Wombat, your absence has been noticed, Dougwe has been running amok.
On the subject of passwords, most of us make them to easy to guess, try to avoid using recognisable words.
Make sure you use at least three of the character groups (upper case, lower case, numbers, and special characters).
Try simple tricks like replacing letters with numbers (example replace an o with a 0, or an s with a 5).
Also important to stay away from words people would link with you.
I know it is a pain, but it is well worth it.
I have the unenviable task of having to force over 300 users to change their password every 90 days. You want to bet I am popular, NOT.

You're all forgiven for the hijacking.
It's also a good idea to not use your real name as your username. I plan on changing mine.

Maybe its considered racist Beth, the Black people in America don't like being called nig gers. Its not a term we use here, but I think the forum host uses an American program

I googled a privately advertised phone number to check the area that the object was to be viewed. Told me the name and address. Not sure whether this is commonplace but scary.

Paragon backup is a great free backup program but its only free for home use, radio station can purchase a copy.
http://www.paragon-software.com/home/br-free/
They also have a defrag tool, I have not used that, cannot recommend it but Paragon stuff has been around a long time so should be good.
PS DO NOT USE A DEFRAG program if you have an SSD drive, only use CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ccleaner/download free one on the left of screen.
Sorry Beth for highjacking your topic but Dougwe made me do it.
You're allowed this time wombat.
All good info.
