I think the article is hilarious, mostly tongue in cheek, gave me a good laugh though!
Whatever they think of us it doesn't stop them from holding out their hands for our money in one way or the other. Without us their economy and businesses would suffer.

Love it.this describes the different travelers perfectly. Herbie, don't let it upset you. I think it was all written tongue in cheek.
The media love upsetting people, we should just laugh t the article like they want us to.

Definitely tongue in cheek, although there were some 'types' I think were described with scary accuracy.............

Yes, I agree, it is tongue in cheek but why bother writing it? Pity they haven't got something better to write about but after watching Mediawatch I think it happens fairly regularly.

I also wonder if the people who are wanting to close areas, jack prices up etc etc, have even thought about the day they may wish to do the GN thing? By then they may have shot then selves in both feet.

Just like in Cairns now my wife's sister has been up there seeing her daughter who lives there and she was saying all the ssignage that has gone up just on entering town regarding no camping/wheels clamped /fines and all the other stuff that makes one want to turn around and drive straight through. ..she was saying the amount of people who have been booked the $100 for camping in a no go area are mostly been back packers who will never pay the fine due to them probably back in there home land and who is going to chase them for $100.
So it has probably cost the rate payer more to pay these rangers wages than the fines have brought in.
Think she said 11 vehicles had been wheel clamped.

I have heard that with modern technology these fines are waiting for them at the airport when then they try to depart.
Same as outstanding traffic fines ,they catch up with you at rego time.

I thought it was rather amusing myself. One once told me they hoped I "perished under a campervan load of used incontinence pads" in response to a column I wrote. They really are nasty.
Comon, fess up which one of you said this to the poor girl

$50 fine if you park in the carparks along the river here - assuming you get booked.... cheaper than a caravan park.............

herbie,
It is space filler. It is cheaper than news or researched articles.
There are dozens of lightweights producing similar stuff. Equalled by such mind-numbing TV 'comment' shows as The Project. They are shameless.
Remember when a broadsheet had decent articles you could get your teeth into over a cup of Java? Satire too!
Those days are sadly missed. But not missed by generations whose attention span is that of a gnat. With apologies to the many gen X and Y who can read the full side of a cornflakes packet, not just the headline, and repeat the experience daily to see if anything has changed.
