Hi Milo, going to casualty in an ambulance doesn't make a lot of difference. If they access you as not critical, on arrival, you'll be shoved into the waiting room to wait your turn. My mum was taken to casualty (after a fall) at 9.30pm on a Saturday night. She was accessed as not critical & shoved into the waiting room. It was 2.30 am before she was attended to. Just the way the system works. You need plenty of patience when going to casualty. I feel for you.
Cheers Pete

Chin up mate, these things are sent to try us, and yes next time phone an ambo, low blood can be critical, every time I have called an ambo I get into a bed in quick time, but it does depend on how busy the hospital is and how they look at your case.
Take care mate and get some rest or you will be buggered.

Rest up Milo - you will need your strength in the coming weeks - good thing your sister is coming back down, too much to handle on your own.
Take care - and have dad take care as well.

I don't blame you for feeling frustrated Milo. That is a long time to wait. I hope things settle down for you both.

Yes a bit frustrating Milo,,, hang in there,,, had similar over the past couple of years with parents.
Give you one to make you smile though,,,
A couple of years ago looking after Grandkids (parents overseas),,,,, Miss 8 years old gets sick at night,,, ring the 1800 free call Nurse,, she has her name already so OK here etc,,, describe problem,,, go to emergency right away,,, so OK off we go, Grandpa and Miss 8.
Triage nurse does her stuff,, take a seat. Miss 8 very tired goes to sleep across my lap,,,2 hours later (they had a couple of ambulances arrive) I was worried that Miss 8 needed to be looked at. Went to counter,,,ah they had forgotten about her...
Take you in now. OK now about 1AM all tired,, Miss 8 has to give urine sample,,, Granpda panics,, can't go in with her to do this,, ask Nurse can she go with Miss 8.
Miss 8 sparks up flashes her eyes at me and says "I can do this myself Grandpa, I know what to do". She had given a sample once previously. WELL DONE MISS 8.
What a relief - pardon the pun ,,,
ANYWAY IF EXCESSIVE DELAY IN ER DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK - staff are busy and things can and do fall into the cracks.

Hi guys, what a night ,
Just got home from the hospital, its now 2.35 am ,,,.
Dad had a blood test yesterday at 2 pm , I was there for that
at his house ,they came and did all that, I went out to do some shopping for him and
got a call from his cancer doc that his blood count was very low and needed to go to hospital
asap for a blood transfusion. So I rushed home , got dad all sorted out and took him up to the hospital
and we got to see the nurse /admin and had a catheter thing put in his arm, that was 6pm..
We didn't get to see any one until 1.30 am ... I am not blaming the nurses or the docs, they do a wonderful job
but struth.. hell of a long long 8hrs almost and I did not leave dads side until he was settled in a bed in the EM ward..
Now they are tending to him and such, next time it happens should , would it be better to press his vital call button and
just get the ambulance?? I never know ... the young doc was very good and I had a long talk as dad was being settled in,,..
blooody heck I feel for any one waiting more than 3 hrs at an EM ward, no matter where you are...
sorry guys, just so bloody tired.

.
my sister is coming back down from Sydney, she only went home on Wednesday
oh what a night ( as per that song.._) no radio show this week again, I'm too stuffed..
first pic is dad waiting to go in...
second pic in the ward waiting for a bed.. at 1.30 am ..

in any way , I'm having something to eat
then bed..
Get some rest sounds like the day will be a heavy one.
Cheers
