My name is Barbara and I am busy at the moment packing up our house and awaiting the arrival date of our new van - a Retreat Mabel, hence the name I have chosen for my posts.
I retired from work one month ago and my husband will soon retire and we plan to begin our new adventure of life on the road for an indefinite period.
Yesterday I scouted around, by way of phone, obtaining quotes for caravan and car Insurance whilst on the road for an indefinite period taking into account that we have sold our house and therefore do not have a residential address. I had success with all but one of the Insurance companies I rang and at this time am still awaiting on a return call from them. After a day of talking with different consultants from varying Insurance companies I found this to be a very worthwhile experience as I can now make an educated judgement on which company I will choose, and I have found out that it is not necessarily the cheapest I will go for, as looking after our investment, being car and van, will be my major priority.
We take delivery of our van in early November, hope all the colours and add ons we have chosen are OK, excitement is building.
Looking forward to chatting again.

G'day Barbara. Firstly let me say you're the one who's out there and I'm the one who's in here. It's a technical thingy. Good experience shopping around for insurance and the residential address issue. Been there and the advice around the forum is to use a friend/relly's address as your residential and mailing address for all insurance, rego, license and other purposes. If the question ever arises "what are you doing 500kms from home?" you simply say you're travelling indefinitely. However, there are many GNs here who have been on the road for years who can probably explain it better than I.
