The webmaster changes our 'status' as the number of posts increases. You very quickly move from being a 'newbie' to a 'guru' as you post. I think it goes - newbie, senior, veteran, guru. Our most senior guru is about to post her 10,000th post so we've had a bit of fun with her.

Wonder if Webmaster will give me a new title when I reach 10,000.
Welcome Bobstar. I notice you have 11 posts and already you are a member lol
Not sure if Newbie or Member comes first.

Then there are those of us who just skulk around a lot and never get to change their status.

Would be even more meaningful if the status was based on the quality of the posts rather than sheer quantity of mutterings IMO......the term Guru should be some sort of indication they appear to know what they are talking about and generally fair to other members based on actual experience IMO....having said that I hold most of the Gurus on this Forum in high esteem but not all, IMO.....Hoo Roo

Ok, I will try to do a post of very high quality.
Because of Bobstars query I have done some research.
Newbie has 0 - 4 posts
Member has 5 - 24 posts
Veteran Member has 25 - 99 posts
Senior Member has 100 - 499 post
Guru has over 500
Some other interesting facts I found, on my phone I found there is 266 pages of grey nomad members.
From page 100 - 266 all are newbies with zero posts, yes 0. A large majority of that amount have not accessed this forum since 2009 and earlier.
It is only in the first few pages are there members with 10 or mote posts.

Hey Marj, see we are still waiting
Speaking of members and posts, do you remember the couple that were at Greens Lake, Central Vic, (for those that don't know), about November last year, who were a little further to the back of you? They had a kayak and they went out in a lot, I think for memory he was Karl and she was Glenda? but can't remember for sure and can't remember their forum name at all. Really nice couple and kept to them self most of the time.
Thanks Bob, back to you OR Marj.

Dorian, click on List all users up the top in the blue line. You can scroll through them all to page 266.
Yes Doug I'm sure that was their names
He helped me start the thong tree.
Didn't they join the grey nomads while at the lake.
I haven't looked but maybe you can click on List all users, then sort by date joined then look for November 2012.

Yes that was them Marj and yes they did join while there but only posted 1or 2 times. I will do as you suggested later as there were quite a few of us there and one of the others might come up with the goodies.

Doug, I found them, Decker, they joined Nov 2012 and haven't been back on since Dec 14 2012.
That's a shame, they were a lovely couple, the did join us for most happy hours and didn't we go to their camp for a happy hour or two?

Hi all this is my first post.
Just for the record idiosyncrasies - plural noun: a mode of behaviour or way of thought peculiar to an individual.
I have been a lurker in the background, having a look at what goes on in the forum and have liked what I see, so far.
My rig and tug are getting some ruggedizing work for a trip through Tibooburra Innamincka, Birdsville up to the Curry and Karumba next year. The aim is to follow the Burke and Wills path as much as possible and do a little pictorial essay along the way. I have a 94 Patrol tug and a 94 Jayco Penguin Outback
Its good to see so many dedicated nomads who contribute so much to this site. I have learnt heaps just reading through the archives.

You will all be Gurus' by the end of this post....Lol....poor old Copper1 just got jumped on by a 'Guru' from a great height for having the temerity to post something he thought/hoped would help us all and what is wrong with that?.....now he is being taken apart for using a large font......I got roasted in one of my posts for not having enough paragraphs!.....and in another had a reply posted in red ink to show me the error of my ways......my late grandmother,Nan, bless her heart thought she meant well, used to return every letter I had painstakingly sat down and written, telling her what I was doing at school and sport etc...they were always sent back with all spelling errors and punctuation marks corrected in red.....I must have been all of eight...guess what?....the only effect it had was to lower my desire to write to her......
'New Paragraph'...why can't we all accept that whilst we all have a common interest in this Forum that we are all individuals and do things our way providing we are fair and don't intentionally hurt others feelings without someones' fickle finger of fate looming over some Newbie or Junior or Senior or whatever the grades are....
'New Paragraph' space..the fact we all lifes' travellers, with many literally travelling full time, indicates we are individuals by nature and not just prepared to just rot until the Nursing Homes beckon...so why not let us all be individuals with our own indiosynchrisies? ..I know that is spelt wrong but I did have 5 goes at it Nan.....its a fantastic Forum why turn it into an exclusiuve old Boys/Girls Club complete with leather chesterfields....my epistle from the Mount for today...Hoo Roo

I agree with what you are saying too. Copper1 has a thick hide so can take it but Knowing him I reckon he can dish out a lot more.
By the way Mr Apples spell checker doesn't even know how to spell that word either so she'll be apples mate.
Mmmmmm, I spelt it a little different and Mr apple came up with......... idiosyncrasies. Who would have thunk.

Hi Golddetectornomad et al,
Feral is fine by me!.
I am planning to spend a bit of time around the granite alluvials and at the Chilli ville diggings also while near Tibooburra. There is some very good gold bearing ground up in QLD getting towards Cloncurry also. That should test me out I think.
I have a dry recovery technique I am looking forward to trying out on some of the dry river beds as well as detecting.
