What a delight to find 24 hour parking beside the Lowe Street park in York with 4 power points, and taps - FREE. Toilets and a new dump point. Not only that but I had been here less than an hour and was visited by a local young councillor who popped in to say hello and welcome. He says they are thinking of putting a laundry in town also - possibly here.
He was wondering how to tap into the nomad work force - perhaps having a list of 'things needing doing' at the Shire office. Will be interesting to see if he makes use of our Classified section. He says although a 24 hour stop people go away with their vans during the day and come back again the next night - seems happy about that
Can walk up one block from the Park past the old court house into the main street.

It is a pity that more councils and councilors dont take a leaf out of their book and tap into the GN purse..

Great report there Spida. It's good to see a Shire/Council and a young Councillor being pro-active.
I was in Local Government form25 years and actually found the younger Councillors were more pro-active and got out into their local Community and so they should. Should be more of that.
Thanks again for the report.

Glad to hear your enjoying your stop Spida. We enjoyed our stay as well. The council certainly is pro-active, one of the councilors dropped by when we were there for a chat and ask how everything was. Make sure you visit the lolly shop while you are there. Nice range of goodies for the sweet tooth.

We treated ourselves to an icecream from the Olive Oil place just out of York. Some unusual flavours. Very yummy.

Good news for all Spida. Thanks
Can I make a suggestion, if you see him again ask him to write to the Local Government Association if he thinks it's successful,,, we need the message to flow into the "inner" circle from their own "circle", if you get my drift.
