Some information about Greens Lake
Camping at Greens Lake is free and there are no restrictions on how long you can stay.
There are toilet facilities but no shower.
Greens Lake is part of the Corop Wetlands.
The Corop Wetlands comprise a series of 10 main wetlands that run north-south for 30 kilometres and cover an area of over 1500 hectares, starting at the Mansfield Swamp in the north through to One Tree Swamp in the south.
From 2002-2010 Lake Cooper was in the unusual state of being dry, which has saw aquatic life disappear and new sand dunes form.
The Corop Wetlands are part of the Goulburn River flood-plain. Lake Cooper and Greens Lake have public access, including boat ramps. Over 60 species of birds have been identified. Several endangered species of plants have been found at Lake Cooper. Both lakes have camping facilities and are popular for fishing and water-sports.
Many other smaller intermittent lakes and swamps make up the Corop Wetlands. Whilst most are located on private property Gaynors Swamp and the Wallenjoe Swamp are accessible.
Most of these lakes have distinctive lunettes on the Eastern side due to accumulated sand blown from the dry lakebed during the drought. While Lake Cooper was dry, it was interesting to see lunette formation in action.
Greens Lake is an off stream storage situated approximately 7.5 kilometres north-east of the small township of Corop. Greens Lake's only catchment is from rainfall and floodwater runoff. History Greens Lake is a natural basin, and few works were required to convert the basin into a storage. Construction of a pump station and pipelines commenced in 1966, and opened in October 1968. The pipelines and pump station construction started in 1966 and the lake were officially opened in October 1968. Operations Greens Lake is used to supplement the Waranga Western Channel that supplies water to the Rochester and Pyramid Hill-Boort irrigation areas. The lake is connected to the Waranga Western Channel via two pipelines. Any surplus flow on the channel during late winter or early spring is diverted to Greens Lake via a pipeline under gravity, and is later used during periods of peak demand to manage flow. Supplements from Greens Lake are pumped to the Waranga Western Channel through the same pipes used for gravity supplies to the storage. There are three pumps that deliver 80.5 ML/d each and two pumps that deliver 122 ML/d each. The maximum discharge with all pumps operating is 490 L/d.

You forgot the info on the water sports each weekend providing free entertainment for us, the snakes that hang around the loos and the camps, the need for fly swats and the thing that makes it a great place. Grey Nomads having a good time.

Thanks for that Liddle, Great write up, I never knew any of that, Its very interesting when you dig a bit deeper into the surroundings where your at, at the time,
It needs a row of trees to stop the wind, Tho,
There was about ten outfits with the Grey Nomads Group, Down further, there were a few different sized outfits camped along the edge,
Then there were about 30 car and trailer with Pop top and flip over double Beds with associated Tent attached,
Was the place crowded, Nope, Oooddles of room left,
Then on the week ends, the locals invade Greens Lake as well,
Their all parked down the other end of the lake, So dont bother any one,
The boat ramp is very entertaining, Hahahaha, But not close enough to really hear it,
Very nice spot close to the water, And a Very Friendly group of Grey Nomads,
