Hi all we have been off the air for awhile, stranded in adelaide with the inlaws, we are very lucky to still have them around but still can't wait to leave on Thursday.
The question, we have been with RACV for many years but now that we have sold the car and bought the motor home they tell me they have NO membership plan for us.
The van has a GVM of 4450kg, please let me know what the options are what can I join, who will offer support.
There is no way that I could change a wheel, or have any idea what to do if it breaks down.

I went with NRMA as they had the extra cover for heavy vehicle based on GVM weight. so it was premium cover $182 as well as new membership $55 and also Premium Plus for the heavy cover $122. I live in Vic but RACV only cover 2.7mtrs high mine is 2.8!!!!!!!
In Vic it will be the RACV that come and in QLD the RACQ!!!!!!

Make some enquiries with CMCA I think they have road assistance for Motorhomes as part of the insurance available to members.
This is via their broker Ken Tame.
Cheers

This made me look more closely at my RAC Roadside ultimate package. It covers up to 5.5 metres length, my motorhome is 6 metres. I also lose out on weight. RAC cover up to 4,000kgs, mine's over that.
I'll have to look at Ken Tame as I'm insured with him.

I think Ken Tame provides up to $1000 per year for roadside Assist as part of their CMCA Insurance Cover, but you need to check this with them.
But some tow jobs/flat tray exercises could cost a lot more than this, some mh'ers have joined Winnie Assist if their mh/campervan is under 10 years old.
Am not a member, so its up to others to comment about their customer care.

So, do I understand correctly that the NRMA will allow people who live interstate to join up to their roadside assistance schemes?
I think the Ken Tame insurance includes a certain amount of towing, but I am not sure that it is also conventional roadside assistance.

Hi Judy, All
Is NRMA premium roadside assist tied to the vehicle or the person.
In SA RAA roadside assist is to the person. With any vehicle breakdown you are driving they will attend, in some states I believe its tied to the vehicle, so if you are driving another vehicle you are not covered.
